Commercial Description:
Brewed by Mikkeller at De Proefbrouwerij in Lochristi, Belgium.

’Fad bamse’ is a highly hopped and dry hopped imperial pilsner with a light body and lovely crispyness from the lager yeast.
A Danish pilsner is typically characterized by an alcohol content of 4,6% vol., piss-yellow colour and a sexless, slightly bitter taste. But it doesn’t have to be like this…! Draft Bear is Mikkellers interpretation of a ’pilsner’, heavyweight-style. With its powerful hop notes, high alcohol content and lovely golden appearance, the only reference to the pilsner style is the clean taste of the lager yeast.
Ingredients : Water, malts (pils, carapils and amber), light candy sugar, hops (amarillo and cascade) and lager yeast.

Big shiny offwhite head. Hazy orange body with carbonation. Peachy citric mango hop aroma with catty oily notes. Aroma is basically dominated by the hops. Dry-sweet mango peach hop taste with very fruity straw and grain notes. Aftertaste is the same. Very powerful, but still fresh. Excellent! (0.75l bottle from Gamle Strand, Copenhagen.)

Draught at Københavnske Øldage. Hazy dark golden with a rich and sticky white foam. Dryish hop aroma of grass, grapefruit and pepper, almost no signs of sweetness from the malts despite the ABV. Full and really dry hoppy flavour of minerals, wet grass, grapefruit and metal. Long bitter finish of grapefruit. Quite tasty but it felt fairly unbalanced, leaving no room for the sweetness from the malts.

Pours a cloudy golden color with a thick, frothy, white head. Aroma of hops and spices (pepper mostly). Interesting flavor of hops, pepper and mild alcohol. The body is medium with a creamy texture and moderate carbonation. Nicely done.

3rd LCRBM. Aroma has hoppy fruits. Slightly hazy, golden coloured with a white head. Taste is a bit sweet with more bitterness in the finish. It has fruity hops and a touch of malts. Nice. European strong lager?? Didn’t know I liked it.

EBF 2008, nice hoppy aroma, and flowery.. very very good. clear golden white head flavor is near perfect for my taste in a strong pilsene. still has the fresh pilsener taste, but so much more powerful. overall best pilsener i ever tasted.

Winter Welcome Toronto. Smells of good malt and fine noble hops, dark amber, with a small off-white head. Flavour is a spicy malt, hops add a nice level of bitterness. Full bodied, a zingy mouthfeel.Terrific example. Thank You Radek Kliber.

In short: A big hoppy lager. Somewhere between a pilsner on steroids and a Pale Ale on steroids.
How: Bottles 750ml, consumed fresh within a few weeks after receiving it through private importation.
The look: Cloudy golden-orangy body topped by a large long-lasting white head
In long: Nose of orange, leather and hay in the country field, almost wild (unusually wild for a lager). Taste has a lot of cereals, clementines, dry fruity skins of all kinds, soft honey/caramel sweetness and a truckload of hops. Hopping has the noble dry grassiness as well as a fruity/pine-tree character. Good chewy thick lager feeling. Not very tasty but highly drinkable for a 8% brew. Fantastic Draft in a bottle, which said like that makes as much sense as a genuine imitation of natural plastic flowers.
