Commercial Description:
Brewed by Mikkeller at De Proefbrouwerij in Lochristi, Belgium.

’Fad bamse’ is a highly hopped and dry hopped imperial pilsner with a light body and lovely crispyness from the lager yeast.
A Danish pilsner is typically characterized by an alcohol content of 4,6% vol., piss-yellow colour and a sexless, slightly bitter taste. But it doesn’t have to be like this…! Draft Bear is Mikkellers interpretation of a ’pilsner’, heavyweight-style. With its powerful hop notes, high alcohol content and lovely golden appearance, the only reference to the pilsner style is the clean taste of the lager yeast.
Ingredients : Water, malts (pils, carapils and amber), light candy sugar, hops (amarillo and cascade) and lager yeast.

Bottle, with renffisch, 2nd September 2008. Amber with a very long lasting head which leaves lacing. Floral, perfumed aroma. Malty, nutty, mature cheese notes but with a good balancing bitterness. A very enjoyable beer. Certainly the best I’ve had in this style, by a country mile!

25.4 oz bottle. Hazed gold with a holding white head and lacy strands. Nose of dough, flowers and light lemon. Almost syrupy with a tingly carb. Taste is lemon, honey and grapefruit with an interesting tea bitterness. Fresh and crisp, good quaffer.

Merritt Island Throwdown ’08: Bottle, courtesy Beerlando. Pours a cloudy gold with a thick white head. Very light citrus and malt aroma. Malty with a touch of hops and a slight bitter finish. Light and subtle, very nice.

A cold pour produces a fuming tall froth that lingers forever. A rocky plume, dense snail tracks, and a thick lasting lace is DB’s trademark. The color is a pale caramel yellow and slightly hazed. Aromas of brisk chunky citrus peel hops and a mild malty sweetness. Full nectar w/ soft as cotton carbonation. It’s almost crispy on the palate despite it fullness. A brisk hopsy citrus rind component right upfront delivers a balanced malt body w/ salted grapefruit and bittersweet caramel. The finish is bittered well leaving a lingering asprin tingling sensation to ponder. This brew is very generous cold or warmed. DB leaves a mouthwatering thirst for more on the user creating an addiction. This stuff is amazing. I pick up some candyfruit as it warms.

deep orange pour, with a huge eggsehll head that leaves some beautiful lacing all over the sides of my glass. Aroma is lots of hops, some nice citrus here, with some pine, and some thick honey. Flavour is hoppy, and malty at the same time. The mouthfeel is thick, and very enjoyable. Lots of nice tangy bitterness in the finish. WOw, what an excellent beer. I think this is quickly becomming one of my favorite styles.

A huge amount of quinces in the nose. Decent but nothing too spectacular. Nice hop profile. Good balance. Sweetish, yet very drinkable. Good finish.
