Commercial Description:
Brewed by Mikkeller at De Proefbrouwerij in Lochristi, Belgium.

’Fad bamse’ is a highly hopped and dry hopped imperial pilsner with a light body and lovely crispyness from the lager yeast.
A Danish pilsner is typically characterized by an alcohol content of 4,6% vol., piss-yellow colour and a sexless, slightly bitter taste. But it doesn’t have to be like this…! Draft Bear is Mikkellers interpretation of a ’pilsner’, heavyweight-style. With its powerful hop notes, high alcohol content and lovely golden appearance, the only reference to the pilsner style is the clean taste of the lager yeast.
Ingredients : Water, malts (pils, carapils and amber), light candy sugar, hops (amarillo and cascade) and lager yeast.

Orange with a big and lasting white head, leaving a nice lace. Hoppy aroma with peach and citrus. Intense and lasting bitterness, a very tasty drink.

Pours clear deep gold with 3-fingers of white head. Aroma is pale malty, with hopcitrus, some Saazy hops, and mild funk. Tastes pale malty, with s fresh hop bite, some citrus, and some honey flavors. The repours get a little turbid as some sediment makes its way into the glass.

Bottle. Head is initially large, frothy, off-white, mostly lasting. Body is dark yellow. Aroma is lightly malty (toasted grain), moderately to heavily hoppy (resin), lightly yeasty (dough), with a note of alcohol. Flavor is moderately to heavily sweet, lightly to moderately acidic, lightly to moderately bitter. Finish is lightly to moderately sweet, lightly to moderately acidic, moderately to heavily bitter. Medium to full body, velvety texture, lively carbonation, moderately to heavily alcoholic. One-dimensional and lacking in elegance or finesse. Overhopping alone isn’t a sufficient solution to making a strong golden lager interesting IMHO. Nice appearance, though. Mouthfeel is nice other than the somewhat oppressive alcohol burn.

Draught at Copenhagen Beerfestival. is it a pilsener with this high ABV? I dont think so, but the beer is really great. Creamy white fair mostly lasting head. Dark yellow colour. light malty and exstremely powerfull hoppy aroma. Heavy bitter flavor and very long wellbalanced bitter finish. Creamy palate. i love this one.

Bottle (c&c) from Marcus. Many thanks. Sort of a copper color with a frothy, bubbly off-white head. Lots of hop - floral, grassy, spicy. Medium body with creamy/frothy carbonation. Flavor is strong. Strong hop and strong malt. Not at all bitter; well that overstates the matter, but it sure isn’t a NW hop giant; a more gentlemanly bitter. . Not hot. Indeed it seems to have a lot of nobility. Perhaps not quite clean, but it is crisp. A most excellent lager. How can it be other than the best ESL? At least for now.

From a 750 ml bottle. The body is hayz dark amber orange with a thick lightly yellow tinted head. The aroma is strong with sweet pears and some celery. There is also a little bit of nutmeg. The taste has some rich notes of canned peaches and a light cinnamon spice finish. There is also some toasted almond that comes through in the finish. For a big beer, this is really drinkable.

Corked bottle and served in my big Karmeliet tulip:

A slightly hazed golden hue with a big fluffy head with left very nice lace upon the glass. The aroma has notable continental hop vapors, lightly fruity and herbal along with a biscuity and dusty ester. The taste is a wonderful balance of crisp clean hop bitterness and properly done pale malt additions. Hint of earthy and herbal notes around the edges. The best part is that the alcohol does not get in the way of the flavors like a few other "Imperial Pils" that I have had. Lively and refreshing, dangerously drinkable considering.

This is a VERY WELL DONE BREW! I am honestly surprised by this beer, in a good way. Worth the money IMO and that is saying something at $12 a bottle.
