Commercial Description:
Brewed by Mikkeller at De Proefbrouwerij in Lochristi, Belgium.

’Fad bamse’ is a highly hopped and dry hopped imperial pilsner with a light body and lovely crispyness from the lager yeast.
A Danish pilsner is typically characterized by an alcohol content of 4,6% vol., piss-yellow colour and a sexless, slightly bitter taste. But it doesn’t have to be like this…! Draft Bear is Mikkellers interpretation of a ’pilsner’, heavyweight-style. With its powerful hop notes, high alcohol content and lovely golden appearance, the only reference to the pilsner style is the clean taste of the lager yeast.
Ingredients : Water, malts (pils, carapils and amber), light candy sugar, hops (amarillo and cascade) and lager yeast.

Aug, 2007 Chris_o Shindig. Strong cereal lager with heavy alcohol. Thin fruit. Little here of interest. Very little pleasure. Difficult to drink.Quite hot and gagging sweet.

Bottle. High white and fluffy but lasting head. Hazy goldn body. Lovely hoppy and fruity aroma (mainly oranges but also a bit of nuts). Flavor of hops, pretty hoppy acutally, compared to normal strong lagers this is GOOD. Alcohol percentage well hidden by the bitterness. Long dry and bitter aftertaste. Only 2 changes wanted: Lower the price. Brew in 33 cl bottles as well Please. (Copenhagen beerfestival raters: Try it again on bottle)

750mL bottle, BB 12/13/09. Poured clear, brighter orangey-golden with a creamy and sticky white head. The aroma picked up significant doses of catty and floral hoppage over juicy lighter fruits and caramel malts. The flavor was also led by the hop blast, showcasing pine, citrus, and floral character.. juicy overall, and it carried well through the finish.. honey and bready malts supported well.. tasty. Medium-plus bodied with great balance throughout.. dry and a bit grainier on the back.. very drinkable! God help me if I ever find this on cask.

Not a bad Mikkeller at all, if such a thing is possible. A good hoppiness that got me through perhaps 400 ml. and then I could take no more. Its fairly one dimensional, a lager and even bit of malt liquor taste in there behind a good hoppiness. Maybe a different day. Found at Premiere Gourmet.Light coloured body.

Bottle (750ml corked and caged). No ClowGr’s tasting, shared with blankboy, jerc, mabel and tupalev, My bottle, ’cause we can’t finish the night on friggin’ Blue De-Alcoholised Pilsener. BB Dec 13/09. Steady, now - the urge to rate this about 4.5 is very strong. Hazy light orange-amber, large lasting mottled beige/off-white head. The aroma - yes, alcohol, yes grassiness, but I’m getting some solid pine/citrus zest hops in there, and an odd fruitiness that really appeals. Taste - grassy, boozy, crisp and dry, sharply bitter and a long, long finish - we need more GOOD examples of this style (on the bottle is says "malt liquor"). Crisp, light, alcoholic, astringent to the nth - big and grassy, and well-made and thank you guys for helping me drink 750ml of this big bugger.

Bottle 750 ?ml, Appearance: murky amber with large presentable head (medium density). Some lace on side. Aroma: gentle aromatic hopping , flowery side with mild smooth sweetness , barley and alcohol. Flavor/Palate: full bodied, mushy ,grainy. Oats with bitter hopping following drying alcohol. Interesting unfiltered character with potency hop spiced. Very drinkable , clean strong lager. Solid, world class brew.

Sampled on 5/22/2009. This European Strong Lager pours a medium orange gold color from a corked and caged 750ml bottle. Large sized white foamy head, with good retention. The aroma is cereal, floral hops and malts. A medium to full bodied European Strong Lager. The malts are cereal and bready, a touch sweet. The hops are very aggressive, with lots of grapefruity and floral hops. Nice carbonation. Kind of pilsnerish, but it is way too big and hoppy for a pilsner. Very tasty beer. Mouthfeel is full and round. Finish is clean and dry with a touch of sweetness. The aftertaste is slightly bitter.

2008-04-10. Golden amber body with a good sized white head that fades (3+ Moderately hoppy aroma, modest resin and ephemeral citrus notes. Pleasant bitterness up front tin the flavour picks up a slowly building alcoholic hitch hiker that is a touch distracting, but not as prominent as it could have been. Pleasant lingering hops have pleasant resin and ambiguous citrus notes. Average plus palate. (3+) Pretty decent. Bottle shared by HogTownHarry
