Angeloregon (1867), Portland, Oregon, USA Jul 8, 2008 Bottle thanks to Alex at Belmont Station in Portland--Poured a rich golden-copper body. Hoppy, dry crisp nose. Not like most imperial pils/European strong lagers of past. Crisp, dry, nice lager yeast. Finished especially astringent and smooth. Wow!
ucusty (1016), Wake Forest, North Carolina, USA Aug 28, 2008 Bottle from Knightly Sprits in Orlando! Thanks Solan! Hazy gold pour, big fluffy head, and excellent lace! Grainy aroma with hints of saaz hops. Crisp and clean flavor consisting of fruit, malts and hops CelticBrew (457), The Crystal Coast, North Carolina, USA Aug 26, 2008 Poured from 750 ml a golden hay or straw color, a bit haz. Aroma of hops, field grasses, and malts. Formed huge foamy head. Lacing was incredible with each swig. Flavour smooth with malts and hops, perfectly balanced. Spices, along with pines come through making this a wonderful college of flavour that says "this what a beer should be like". Bottom line, Mikkeller does it again, a beer to be experienced. Behold it, as it sits it your goblet, for it is truly beer! GonZoBeeR (1994), ste-Eulalie, Quebec, Canada Aug 24, 2008 Aroma:good american hops aroma..
Appearance:deep golden,good head..
Flavor:fruit hops, light malt... aplusbreaks (44), , Colorado, USA Aug 22, 2008 750ml Pours a golden, almost amber, with a big peaky frothy head that lasts... some great lacing to boot. Aromas of fresh hops and some fruit and malts. Flavor is quite appealing for a euro lager, which usually is not my cup a tea. Some pine and resin and a smooth hop finish, very well balanced. A+ for a lager. probstk (660), Nepean, Ontario, Canada Aug 21, 2008 750 ml bottle from Bieropholie, served at cellar temperature in a tulip glass. AU14/08.
App.: Clear, deep golden, large rocky froth.
Aroma: Grapes and apricots, peppery-spicey hops, toffee, quite fruity.
Palate: Medium+ body, soft carbonation, smooth and full.
Flav.: Still fruity but more hops comes through – peppery, spicy and piney, somewhat resinous, some toffee; a bit of alcohol, off-dry with fair bitterness.
Great stuff with a nice kick!
