Commercial Description:
Brewed by Mikkeller at De Proefbrouwerij in Lochristi, Belgium.

’Fad bamse’ is a highly hopped and dry hopped imperial pilsner with a light body and lovely crispyness from the lager yeast.
A Danish pilsner is typically characterized by an alcohol content of 4,6% vol., piss-yellow colour and a sexless, slightly bitter taste. But it doesn’t have to be like this…! Draft Bear is Mikkellers interpretation of a ’pilsner’, heavyweight-style. With its powerful hop notes, high alcohol content and lovely golden appearance, the only reference to the pilsner style is the clean taste of the lager yeast.
Ingredients : Water, malts (pils, carapils and amber), light candy sugar, hops (amarillo and cascade) and lager yeast.

Yellow color with a full, long lasting foam. Well hopped nose, with citrus, spice-like, lemony and fruity hops. Very vibrant. Flavor is very punchy with loads of fruity (orange, tangerine, lemon) and spicy hops. Also, some notes of butter toffee and caramel as well. This is a very nice beer from Mikkeller, one of the better Imperial Pilsners I’ve had.

Draught at Copenhagen Beerfestival. is it a pilsener with this high ABV? I dont think so, but the beer is really great. Creamy white fair mostly lasting head. Dark yellow colour. light malty and exstremely powerfull hoppy aroma. Heavy bitter flavor and very long wellbalanced bitter finish. Creamy palate. i love this one.

Strangely moderate aroma of sweet malt and c-hops, considered the taste to come. The colour is light amber and it has a ok head. The flavour is wonderfull, sweet malt and a shitload of hops giving it a persistent taste of citrus, grass and grape, that goes very well with the solidly bitter end. A very nice beer, but more of an ipa than a pilsner. Doesn’t matter though - it is nearly amazing!

Ølfestival 2007. On tap. Pours a clear dark yellow with a small white head. Hint of lacing. Light sweetness with some bitterness. Hoppy aromas of citrus and straw. Medium body with an average carbonation. Dry finish.

The aroma was fruity and spicy with a strong grassy hop presence which was bright, floral, and a bit citrusy. The aroma was strongly malty with caramel coupled with a smidge of toffee and toast. The aroma had a spicy and resinous hop feel. The beer poured into the glass crystal clear golden with a frothy and moussy off-white head which lasted forever to lace the glass. The flavor was malty with some presence of caramel and a fruity flavor of pineapple just in the background. The hop flavor was lightly citrusy and lightly spicy while showing a bit of grassy and resinous character. The bittering won the balance war, but only by a nose. The bitterness was smooth and worked well with the malt. The finish was dry with lasting resinous bittering and hop flavor smoothly diminishing into the aftertaste. The body was almost medium-full with a moderate level of carbonation and a creamy texture on the palate. A nice beer, not exceedingly clean, with more similarity to an IPA than a lager. Pretty tasty stuff. 750 ml corked and bailed bottle.

750mL bottle, BB 12/13/09. Poured clear, brighter orangey-golden with a creamy and sticky white head. The aroma picked up significant doses of catty and floral hoppage over juicy lighter fruits and caramel malts. The flavor was also led by the hop blast, showcasing pine, citrus, and floral character.. juicy overall, and it carried well through the finish.. honey and bready malts supported well.. tasty. Medium-plus bodied with great balance throughout.. dry and a bit grainier on the back.. very drinkable! God help me if I ever find this on cask.

A Mes rate: Draught at Ølfestival 2007. Dark golden appearance. Ice cream and heavy hoppage in the aroma. Imperial pils in the mouth, what a style! Drinkable and strong. Love it. Mouthfeel is thick and chunky for what it is, maybe just a little sticky though. Excellent beer with the typical Mikkeller hops.

Shared by kmweaver. Cloudy pale body with a small white head. The nose is herbs grass, lemon and bread. The flavor is lightly sweet with herbs, grass, honey and dough. Medium body is soft with moderate carbonation. This was 8%?!
