Commercial Description:
Brewed by Mikkeller at De Proefbrouwerij in Lochristi, Belgium.

’Fad bamse’ is a highly hopped and dry hopped imperial pilsner with a light body and lovely crispyness from the lager yeast.
A Danish pilsner is typically characterized by an alcohol content of 4,6% vol., piss-yellow colour and a sexless, slightly bitter taste. But it doesn’t have to be like this…! Draft Bear is Mikkellers interpretation of a ’pilsner’, heavyweight-style. With its powerful hop notes, high alcohol content and lovely golden appearance, the only reference to the pilsner style is the clean taste of the lager yeast.
Ingredients : Water, malts (pils, carapils and amber), light candy sugar, hops (amarillo and cascade) and lager yeast.

Pours a thin golden with a huge airy sudsy off-white foam on top. Interesting aroma, malty, light caramel, with touches of fruit, mango/peach, and what seems like some german hops. Wonderful and unique, maintains the pilsner quality without letting the alcohol destroy it. Light candied malt, very nice too, merged with very flavorful grassy and floral hops, perfect amount of light sweet spring-time fruit, mango, grapefruit and peaches. A fantastic lasting mellow bitterness. Medium body, a bit creamy with very low carbonation. This stuff is pretty juicy with no signs of alcohol. I am a fan of this one.

I love my Malt Liquors, even if they are European. 750ml bottle, foiled, caged and corked. Very nice Imperial Pilsner. Peppery hop nose. Flavor is a chewy malt, which is always an added bonus. Follows with a crisp hop bitterness. Amazing bear, super tasty. Very nice as all Mikkellers are.

Bottle from BEERmerchants.com. Amber with a thick and lasting off white foam which coats the glass. Nose is sweet biscuity malt, caramel, honey and lots of resinous grapefruit and floral hop notes. Flavor is much the same, good piney grapefruit and sweet malty caramel. Creamy palate with a nice bitter, hoppy finish, slight note of yeast and maybe a little pepper to boot. Wonderful...

Bottle, with renffisch, 2nd September 2008. Amber with a very long lasting head which leaves lacing. Floral, perfumed aroma. Malty, nutty, mature cheese notes but with a good balancing bitterness. A very enjoyable beer. Certainly the best I’ve had in this style, by a country mile!

Poured from 750 ml a golden hay or straw color, a bit haz. Aroma of hops, field grasses, and malts. Formed huge foamy head. Lacing was incredible with each swig. Flavour smooth with malts and hops, perfectly balanced. Spices, along with pines come through making this a wonderful college of flavour that says "this what a beer should be like". Bottom line, Mikkeller does it again, a beer to be experienced. Behold it, as it sits it your goblet, for it is truly beer!

Slightly cloudy, orange-yellow beer with big and lasting cream-yellow head. Aroma is stunning, tropical sweet fruits, at the least grapefruit and mango and some bitterness. Flavour is also great, fruits, some pine needles and sweetness that turns into dryness and quite bitter. Easy, and nice to drink but still slippery. Absolutely great beer (if every lager would be like this...), that reminds me to Anchor Liberty Ale for every aspect, so this beer can’t be far away from the truth.

Rating 600! 750ml plastic-corked bottle. Thick, murky orange color with a big, foamy head. The aroma is sweet, with some Belgian yeast tang. The taste is sweet and malty, with a smooth thickness to it. Decent hop presence for a Belgian, very earthy. Really captures a lot of styles at once. Fruity Belgian yeast nuances, solid hop character, an almost bock-like smoothness in mouthfeel. Excellent beer, would love to have it fresh.

Bottle. Pours an orange/amber colour with large frothing head. Flavor is very flowery and fruity, but also with hops. The mouthfeel is amazingly soft and smooth. Flavor is long lasting hoppyness, only slightly bitter. Very sweet. Really good! Never imagined a "pilsner" could taste like this.
