NosirIwont (1162), Aalborg Vestby, Denmark Nov 7, 2009 Bottle. Pours a hazy orange with a big off-white head. Sweet, malty aroma with notes of rye and wood and a berry-like note in the background– a bit cloying. Hops in the background as it warms. Flavour is sweet and malty with notes of dark fruits and rye. Not a lot of hops. Same finish, but also bitter. Slight notes of alcohol. Overall too cloying and not hoppy enough for my liking. The high alcohol % was well-hidden though. 08-11-09. ricke (57), Malme, Sweden Nov 2, 2009 Golden orange, slightly hazy. A 2 cm ivory-colored head leaves plenty of lacings.
Nice fruity hop aromas in the nose - grapefruit, orange, gooseberries, apricots. Decent piny hop aromas as well. A rather fragile smell of malts and white bread. It smells really nice, but I’m not overly impressed.
Plenty of grapefruit and general citric notes in the taste. Prominent flavors of caramel but it doesn’t get too sweet. Nice floral hop flavors, resins, grass. Slightly perfumy every now and then. Some tobacco and faint tart notes. Powerful bitterness in the finish, and some herbs, pine-needles and spicy alcohol.
Medium body going towards full. Slightly sticky texture. Plenty of carbonation, but the bubbles are small and soft.
Since this is Mikkeller’s first DIPA, I had high expectations on this one, but they wasn’t fully fulfilled. It’s a very good and refreshing beer, but since it’s a DIPA I expected it to be more powerful and containing, well, more of everything. Still a really good beer though.

(Copy of old Beer Advocate review) tomer (365), Rishon Le Zion, Israel Oct 29, 2009 At a tasting, thanks DSG, medium stable off white head, murky light orange colour, flavours of peach, tea and some spiciness in the back, strong overpowering bitterness with some fruity sweetness in the back, quite viscous, long bitter aftertaste. zvikar (412), Tel-Aviv, Israel Oct 28, 2009 At a tasting, thanks DSG for sharing this one, pours orange to yellow with a huge cream color head, aroma of cherries, grapefruits and marmalade, quite sweet with vanilla, cherries, grapefruits and salty tones as well, nice complexity yet watery texture. DSG (1501), Tel Aviv, Israel Oct 28, 2009 Bottle sample at a tasting. Brought by my from Bierkoning in Amsterdam. Cloudy orange with a big white head. Aroma of citrus, resinous hops and some cookies. Bitter resinous flavor with a bit of sweet maltiness in the background and a light alcohol hints in the finish. Medium-bodied. austone (997), Turku; Pori, Finland Oct 23, 2009 Bottled. Golden, tiny pale head with solid lace. Little solventy nose with ruber and some grain, mild fruity hops, surprisingly quiet. Flavor has loads of sweet pale malts, some alcohol, spicy amarillo and citric fruits, tho not that boasting. Balanced exotic bitterness and yeast in the finish. Full bodied, soft strong carbonation. Strangely modest aroma, otherwise pretty standard.
oh6gdx (8794), Vasa, Finland Oct 20, 2009 Bottle (from Ölkonsortiet, Aalborg). A bit hazy ambery orange colour with big fluffy off-white head. Nice lace. Aroma is fruits, spices, zest and mildly grassy notes as well. Flavour is fruity, grassy, hayish as well as some sweet caramel hops and mild alcohol. Quite fruity, but very bitter, in the finish. TBone (6673), Pori, Finland Oct 20, 2009 Bottled (BB 01/11)@Pikkulintu
Orange, a bit hazy color, cloudy off-white head, lots of lace. Very grassy, bready and twisted yeasty aroma. Flavor is also very grassy, lots of "hop juice", but also kind of cardboardish notes. It’s drinkable, but I am not a big fan.
