This is a great little beer. Nothing overly profound, but definiley excellent. Looks quality, pours deep golden with a slight haze, but all-in-all not too cloudy. Lovely 1/2 inch thick bright off/white head. Aroma is delicious, has some wild strawberry notes, some nectarine, orange peel and a lovely spiciness. Flavour is spot on, comes across as rich but remaining clean. Bitter lemon and grapefruit balanced by some lovely caramel/toffee notes from the malt and barley. More spices, ginger or cinnamon-like. Good bit of fresh grass during the mids-finish, also some great rhubarb and custard wafting around in there, with a boiled sweet-like sweetness. Ends bitter with some soapiness building up, some resin also. I’m playing down the fact that the beer is actually quite complex, but I’m enjoying it too much to go on writing. Just got a taste of some lychee emerginf right at the tail end of the finish, sitting nicely at the back of the tongue. Spot on!

A lovely, easy-drinking DIPA for the strength and bitterness. This would be a regular if I had the cash and access. A very good-looking beer - labrador-gold with a head that wouldn’t shame a beauty queen. Fruity aroma of pink grapefruit and mango. Slick palate and quite chewy - definitely at the meatier end of the scale. Clean and hoppy in the mouth - Simcoe, Amarillo and Tomahawk. Juicy Fruit chewing gum and some real grapefruit zestiness before a big warming finish. Champion stuff. (330ml bottle from Platinum Liquor. Batch 01.01)

Golden with a low head. Citric aroma with notes of brown sugar and pine. Cloying, thick and and full-bodied. Very sweet to begin with, but with an aggressive hoppy ending. A bit much in the long run.

courtesy of Jespr - pours a cloudy orange colour with a huge foamy pale beige head; solid hoppy aroma of quince, lichies, fresh cream and dust; sweet malt backbone, full-bodied and juicy, tasty palate, fairly bitter with a long fruity, almondy and yeasty finish - the alcohol remains well hidden and this males it dangerously drinkable

Bottled, thanks fiulijn! Hazy golden, rich airy head. Yeasty gooseberry aroma. Sweet with medium-full body. Syrupy with lots of grapefruity hops. Too sweet and with inky late bitterness.

Dark orange colored with hazy appearance. Little yellow colored head. Black currant dominates in aroma grass, honey and some berries also here. Medium to full bodied. Flavor is more sour with thin currant, honey and grass also here. Aftertaste dries, with safty note.

Bottle. Pours a hazy orange with a big off-white head. Sweet, malty aroma with notes of rye and wood and a berry-like note in the background– a bit cloying. Hops in the background as it warms. Flavour is sweet and malty with notes of dark fruits and rye. Not a lot of hops. Same finish, but also bitter. Slight notes of alcohol. Overall too cloying and not hoppy enough for my liking. The high alcohol % was well-hidden though. 08-11-09.

Golden orange, slightly hazy. A 2 cm ivory-colored head leaves plenty of lacings. Nice fruity hop aromas in the nose - grapefruit, orange, gooseberries, apricots. Decent piny hop aromas as well. A rather fragile smell of malts and white bread. It smells really nice, but I’m not overly impressed. Plenty of grapefruit and general citric notes in the taste. Prominent flavors of caramel but it doesn’t get too sweet. Nice floral hop flavors, resins, grass. Slightly perfumy every now and then. Some tobacco and faint tart notes. Powerful bitterness in the finish, and some herbs, pine-needles and spicy alcohol. Medium body going towards full. Slightly sticky texture. Plenty of carbonation, but the bubbles are small and soft. Since this is Mikkeller’s first DIPA, I had high expectations on this one, but they wasn’t fully fulfilled. It’s a very good and refreshing beer, but since it’s a DIPA I expected it to be more powerful and containing, well, more of everything. Still a really good beer though.
