Lots of spicy orange and citric notes in the aroma. The flavour is almost lager like - although the tomahawk does give it a bitter edge indeed. (Oz - The routine)

The aroma of fruits, like citrus. there is a little cologne. The taste is fruity with some bitter hops. There are a little spices. The aftertaste is bitter with some sweets. | 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Dec 6, 2009 courtesy of Jespr - pours a cloudy dark orange colour under a solid pale beige foam; aroma of grapefruit and almonds; solid initial astringency, medium-bodied and juicy palate; a solid bitterness which lasts in a long almondy and slightly fruity finish - German IPA ?!? cool... omhper (12245), Stockholm, Sweden
| 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Dec 2, 2009 Bottled, thanks fiulijn! Hazy golden, enormou head. Aroma of gooseberry and grapefruit. Sweet and medium bodied with some almondy yeast character. Finishes with medium bitterness. Pretty much a Belgian style IPA, but lacks the charm many of these have. harrisoni (6828), Ashford, Kent, England
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 2/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Nov 30, 2009 Bottle from De Molen shop. Hazy gold/orange, with thick off white head. Decent very fresh IPA with lots of flowery hop. Some good yeast character, reminded me a bit of a Belgian yeast. Lovely hop finish, with more yeast character. Very drinkable and I liked the mouthfeel and swallow. Beeronaut (58), Cambridgeshire, England
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Nov 28, 2009 I’m retrying this beer, as the first time I had it it tasted a bit mental causing me to tell loads of people about it, in the end a number of people came back with very different experiences to my own so I figured I would re-rate the beer. Thankfully I can say that everyone else is right, and no this does not still taste like a hoppy beer after a trip to the dentist. So gone are all the slightly antiseptic/medicinal flavours. Right: So aroma is lovely and rustique, almost Belgian, reminds me of a De Ranke beer, something akin to XX Bitter. Citrus, ginger, floral peppery aroma, some creaminess. Flavour is once again quite Belgian. Nice and bitter, but it’s like a background periferal bitterness that grows in time to engulf the whole palate. Very perfumed hops/flavour, with florals to the fore, some soapiness and resin, with a little pine. Then a distinctive Mikkeller earthiness rears it’s familiar head right at the tale end of the hop action. Palate is light and sparkly but still has a slight chewiness to it, quite carboonated, but that suits the style, a lighter IPA. Definitely reminds me of XX Bitter though, it has a real Belgian twist to it. Finish is more perfume with erath, mineral and the tinniest hint of some sweetness creeping in with the dominated malts. All in all a lovely refreshing summertime IPA for Belgian lovers. COuld be improved with a bit more complexity, or perhaps a little more going on with the malts, it is by all accounts a 100% hop beer with little else going on, but still... it has enough complexity to carry it off. Glad to taste it properly! kappldav123 (1864), Markkleeberg, Germany
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Nov 28, 2009 Thanks to yespr for this one. Bottle looks good, the beer in the glass also. Very zippy, huge head. Starts fresh, intense hoppy, not too dry. Grasy-woody notes follow, modest sweet. Finish a bit dry-floury for a short moment. All in all a very drinkable and good IPA. trapez (825), Hilleroed, Denmark
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Nov 22, 2009 Bottle. Fruity aroma mixed with flowers, grass and what must be the Tettnang hops. Amber colour with huge soft beige head. Very, very bitter flavour which naturally ends up in dryness. The malts are almost completely hidden by the Tomahawk hops.
