Aroma is moderate to heavy malty, roasted, chcolate, licorice acidic notes, spicy - clove, licorice - anis, light yeasty. Bottle@Home. Chocolate aroma with dark fruits and a little lactic. Black colour, great looking brown head, good lace. Chocolate, roasted, bitter, dry mouthfeel. Pretty ok but straighforward, highly drinkable.

75cl bottle at home, iRate: pours pitch black with a tall creamy dark tan head. Head has decent staying power. Wonderful smooth roast and spice. Sweet alcohol intertwined with a very "green" herbal note. Spices start to blow off and allow the roast to show through more, but swirling brings the spice back up. The green twig does seem to get a little heavy. Upon tasting there seems to be a delay with the roast of a second or two. The roast ramps up bringing with it hops and the hop vine. Spices jump off the hop vine with big cardomom and some cinnamon. Slight ashy chocolate. Roast and green combined start to move towards tree bark. Sweet sugary alcohol comes in as the beer starts to come to an end. Long slick sweet alcohol finish with roast and cardamom.

It poured a pitch black liquid with a big brown foam that left lots of lacing. It had a smell of chocolate, hops, coffee and something burned. The mouthfeel was a bit stingy and dry with a thick body. Lots of christmas spices in this one, the commercial description is fairly spot on when it comes to the spices, the star anise, coriander, cinammon and cloves are all noticable. Specially the cloves. It also has a taste of roasted nuts, coffee, hint of hops and some burned caramell. It has a long aftertaste that really digs in and stays there. Very nice beer!

bottle, thanks to SHIG for sharing, pours dark brown, thin tan head. Smells like sweet malt, vanilla. Taste is complex, dark malt, brown sugar, coffee and light spice.

Poured from a caged and corked 750ml bottle and served in a snifter. This beer poured pitch black with a two-fnger thick head of long lasting, rocky tan foam. Solid lace covered the entire glass. The aroma consisted of heavy spicing (the cinnamon and coriander are very bright), some citrus, chocolate, and also a touch of caramel. I liked the spice profile, but it did tend to overwhelm the aroma a bit. The flavor included rich chocolate and caramel, oranges, pine, and a nice blend of spice. The spices were integrated into the flavor quite nicely. The mouthfeel was full-bodied and slightly oily. Lightly carbonated. Nicely done. The spicing is a little heavy in the aroma, but the flavor very tasty.
