750ml bottle, pitch black color, with a thick tan-colored head, leaving a veil of lacing, nice mild spicy nose of clove, nutmeg, cinnamon, anise with some sweet caramelized, toasted, roasted, chocolate malt accents, with some mochaish, fruitcake, fruity burnt dark dried sultana raisin, date aromas follow through on a medium-bodied palate with a yeasty, syrupy, roasted, chocolate, caramelized malt, spicy character of clove, cinaamon, light star anise, coriander, with some mild fruitcake, black coffee, burnt toast, dark chocolate, mochaish, chocolate pudding flavors, and some molasses, brown sugar sweetness, leading towards a warming, spicy cinnamon-like, fruity, chocolatey, milky, roasted bitterness finish.

Pours an oily opaque with a well-lacing creamy dark tan head. Aroma of sweet dark caramel and chocolate with roasty coffee notes and a touch of light fruity tartness. Starts with good fullness and effervescent carbonation with some licorice and clove flavors and mild toffee sweetness well balanced with some light tart fruitiness, smoked malt and coffee in the finish. A pretty enjoyable and unique imperial porter.

pours a thick black with a large dark brown head that leaves a coating on the surface the entire glass. some strange fruity notes in the aroma, plus the bitter choco and coffee flavors with some strong hints of spearmint. taste is very smooth with a bitter finish. fairly creamy full mouthful, was hoping for a tad more. very nice aftertaste and burps. strange nutmeg like quality to it, very spiced up, a nice spiced imperial holiday porter! strangely, the coriander thyme hints remind me of hitachino xh! bazaar!

Corked bottle. Deep dark brown color, opague. Loads of spices in the aroma: anis, cinnamon, coreander, no doubt also others. Malty sweet, very spicy flavor with caramel and chocolate. Tasty, but too spicy for me. Nevertheless a good beer.

750ml bottle. And now for something completely different... As far as porters go (imperial or otherwise) this is outside the box. Strong spicy, smoky nose that has dark chocolate mixing with nutmeg, cinnamon, coriander and peanut brittle. Flavour is pretty similar with a bit more coffee, and the cinnamon coming to the fore, as well as a more prominent dose of aniseed. Palate is not as thick and heavy as the aroma suggests but is still robust, full bodied and extremely quaffable. Overall I’d have to say there’s not enough like it. Good stuff.

Bottle: Poured a pitch-black color porter with a large off-white head with good retention and some lacing. Aroma of chocolate malt is dominating with light spices also noticeable. Taste is dominated by creamy 60% cacao chocolate with a light spicy finish though I didn’t find as much spices as per beer description. Body has a very nice creamy texture with limited filtration and good carbonation. Very well done and something I would drink more often if it was available in my neighbourhood.

Bottle from thecheeseman. Rich black pour with a nice brown head. Aroma is roasty and has notes of cocoa, plums, coffee and some toasted nuts. Flavor is rich and full. Prunes, molasses, roast, chocolate and light coffee. Well done!!
