black pour frothy head. Very complex aroma, hints of chocolate, anise, the coriander really comes through. Taste is a bold combination of coffee bean, chocolate , some very dry roast as well as some intense spice which includes but is not limited to anise and nutmeg. I may be a sucker for porters but this really hits the spot for me. Impressed!

Black pour with excellently proportioned tan head. Aroma is smoked malt, coriander, roast, chocolate, coffee, nutmeg, and hints of liquorice. Flavor is roasted barley, syrupy coffee like chocolate sweetness, and liquorice. Palate is very silky and syrupy; mouth filling culminating with an excellent dryness. Underrated.

Cool brew. A lot of pine in the nose, with dark roasted aromas. Flavor is pine, coffee and a ton of winter spices.

dark brown/black with large tan head. moderate to high carbonation, especially for the style. nose of yeasty esters and dark malt. flavor mainly of chocolate malt with some low crystal sweetness. a lot of hop bitterness with some esters that make me think of a belgian strain. beer ends in a dry finish. the bitterness is a little exaggerated and overall the beer is flavorful but maybe not cohesive. interesting, but not great

0.75 l bottle at Timo A’s session. Opaque brown to black color with creamy tan head. Sweetish, coffeish and perfumed aroma. Acidic roasty flavor with coffee and licorice. The palate is soft yet somewhat acrid.

750ml corked bottle. BB 02/09/12 Yeah, so I decided not to follow any sort of tradition, and just drink this whenever...kinda sad... Quite suprised to see it pour a dense brown foam atop a thick opaque pitch black body. Should really read up before I drink, though my Danish is a bit poor... Aroma has a lactic roastiness about it. Spicy, particularly cloves, bold earthiness behind it, almost woody. Burnt sort of notes resinate with a slight citrusy note underlying. Low carbonation, velvet-like texture, big lengthy body bringing forth a good amount of roasted dryness, yet is still very well balanced. Body is just hugely complex, almost to the point where it’s overwelming! Bitter cocoa, liquorice, whole cloves, cinammon, medium roast coffee, toffee, nuts, subtlest of dark fruits and raisins. Finishes with a coffee-like dryness bring forth a bitterness and smooth alcohol soothing. Rather intense, sort of spiced porter. Probably one of those beers that would taste fantastic with a good number of years under its belt, at the moment it’s more like Gluhwien mixed with stout!
