Pours a dark brown/black, with a large, well retained, frothy light brown head. Almost looked like chocolate milk. Smells of thick toffee, caramel, sweet dark fruits, and hints of some smoke in there as well. Dug the nose. The flavor has a roasty, chocolatey, woodsy feeling to it, where it becomes a porter to me as the dark fruit really isnt noticeable in the taste. Had some belgian qualitites to it though, as I got just a touch of some spicy funk in the finish and aftertaste. Very interesting and enjoyable brew.
