Draft - this should have been my rating number 11,600, but overshot a bit this time. A black beer with a brown head. The aroma is sweet spicy with strong notes of cloves and too much spruce for my liking. The flavor is sweet with notes of roasted malt, spruce, and lots of spices, leading to a dry roasted finish.

Bottle 75 cl. Courtesy of Grovlam. Completely black and opaque with a dense and creamy light brown head with good retention. Lightly burned malt aroma with some vanilla. Quite full-bodied with sweet burned malts and distinct vanilla accents as well as some fruitiness. Subdued bitterness. Yumm! 311008

75 cL bottle, courtesy of Grovlam. Pours dark brown to black with a light tan head. Mild spiced and roasted malty/chocolate aroma. Roasted malt flavoured with a minor smoke and fruity note. Smooth spiced into the finish with a light acidic touch. Lovely spiced and roasted malty finish. Holds a nice balance between malt and spices, just enough sweetness too.

Clear medium to dark brown black color with a large, frothy - creamy, good lacing, fully lasting, beige head. Aroma is moderate to heavy malty, roasted, chcolate, licorice acidic notes, spicy - clove, licorice - anis, light yeasty. Flavor is moderate to heavy sweet and bitter with a average to long duration, and dusty dry finish. Body is medium, texture is oily, carbonation is soft. [20081208]

Bottled. Pitch black colour, mediumsized beige head. Aroma is lots spices, some nuttyness, licorice and also some alcohol. Flavour is spices, coffee, roasted malts, some sweet licorice and mild notes of alcohol. A bit unbalanced, otherwise very nice.

Bottle. Pitch black coloured with a medium sized beige head. Roasted and spicy aroma of cloves, yeast and anise with notes of orange peel. Roasted flavour of spices and chocolate wih notes of orange peel, liquorice, cloves and cinnamon. Roasted and spicy finish. Though the spices are common christmas spices, it’s too spicy for me (especially in the aroma). Seems like a combination of a porter and a belgian strong ale, I would prefer a bit more porter in it.

Tasting at Papsoe, synthetic cork
Black color, creamy head. Mild coffee aroma with light cinnamon and other spices (cloves?). Good body structure, but the flavor is very chaotic: chocolate, caramel, coffee, spices, dust… Not bad, but strange, confusing.
