| 4.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 10/10 | 4/5 | 18/20 | Mar 27, 2009 Slightly hazy copper with a big off-white head. Aroma of peach, tangerine, pineapple and floral hops. The brett at this point is only a slightly earthy, woody character in the nose.
Complex, dry spicy flavour with pepper and thyme. On top of that wood and earth. Grapefruit and tangerine. Some hop flavour and a good bitterness. A touch of warming alcohol at the end.
At this point it’s a great strong saison, that will suit any dinner table. In 9 months or a year it may be the imperial orval we all have wet dreams about.
While USAlive at about the same strength is a potent in-your-face experience, this is much more subtle. And at the moment, I like my beers subtle and saison-like. MesandSim (5945), London, Greater London, England
| 4.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Jul 31, 2009 A Mes rate. Bottle shared with Grant, J and Scott, chin chin guys. Damn this is bloody brilliant. It’s so close to Orval but I don’t want to do it the injustice of that comparisson. Beautiful orange red amber with a supurb off white head and lace. Amazing snowstorm when swilled. Simply sublime yeast on the nose, glorious citrus (mainly orange) but the hops, my god the hops. Big tropical notes, is this NS? The flavour is equally brilliant. The body is superb, it sits just right on the palate and the flavour delivery is quite exceptional. There is sooooo much going on here. Lime, liquorice, so much fruit of many different varieties, and a stunning malt base. The brett is just an undercurrent. I really wish there was more of it but it’s obviously just starting to sing. It gives it an amazing dryness and balances everything out perfectly. Give this some time to age and I’m sure it would be even better. As it is, it’s amazing, just amazing. This as much as anything I’ve had from Mikkeller proves what magnificent brewers they are. I’m guessing this was not particularly easy to make and it would be so easy to make a total mess off. It’s fucking excellent. Sorry but it is. I love Mikkeller. petermadsen (390), Vesterbronxxx, Denmark
| 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 5/5 | 16/20 | Apr 15, 2009 A fantastic dirty ale with loads of must, hay, oranges and a nice punch of herbal and flowery hops. The flavour is rather complex with layers of funk, hops, dry malt and fruit mixing. The best easter beer this year! Grovlam (3825), Copenhagen, Denmark
| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 5/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Apr 10, 2009 bottle. Huge bubbly white head that mostly lasted. Good display of lacework. Hazy dark amber color. Lovely smooth yet complex aroma with notes of yeast, pineapple, caramel, peach, toasted malt, fruit, nutty and mild floral, citrus notes. Medium to full bodied, average carbbonation, light dry texture, the alcohol is so well hidden. Moderated sweet flavor, mild acidic and bitterness. Sweet fruity and malty finish with an acidic twist. angrypirate06 (781), Texas, USA

| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Apr 13, 2009 Bottle, bought @ Ølbutikken, Cph.
Pours a bit hazy orange with an impressive, creamy, white head. Super lacings in largeblotches. Long duration as well. Aroma has yeast (and I could detect some brett), oranges, light toasted caramel, biscuits and a light flowery hops note. Highish carbonation, light and dry mouthfeel, very fitting to the beer. Flavour is quite dry, good use of brett, ginger, light bready malts and lots of fine, dry hops. Long, lightly spiced hoppy aftertaste. Good, but yeah... it will probably be better next year.
