Shared with fordest on Superbowl Sunday. I like the strong ale styles and look forward to enjoying some others. diabel (1372), Aarschot, Belgium

Aroma of cascade, flowers, hops, ... lovely! Caramelish flavour combined with hoppy bitterness, extremely well balanced. Has a warming feel as genever. JorisPPattyn (5192), Antwerpen, Belgium
| 4.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 5/5 | 16/20 | Jan 13, 2007 Updated: Jan 14, 2007 Somebody ought to learn to read - maybe me. I read Humlefryyyd... Very fine & dense, rosy-foxy head; very hazy red-brown beer. Dry, dry hops’ punch in the face, full strength, with an underlying strong cake with caramel aroma. Nice! this is hopslaced orange and strawberry marmalade. It’s extreme, but there is at the same time an amazing balance. Ends alcoholic - but not pure ethanol, lots of higher alcohols as well. Very well-bodied, alcoholwarming, fully viscous, creamy texture. Mikkel, this is one of your best. I could drink this for hours. Thanks, Carlo! goldtwins (4084), Nesconset, New York, USA
| 4.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Nov 27, 2006 Hand bottled and served up at Dr. Bill’s Falling Rock tasting. Poured a hazy brownish-copperish color with a small off-white head. Great aroma with plenty of hops. Piney, citrusy, fruity and malty all rolled together for a great mix. The hops find themselves into the flavor as well. Nice piney notes with a good malt base of caramel and a little bit of fruit. Decent bitterness on the finish and a nice warming sensation. lachesis (759), St Idesbald, Belgium
| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Oct 13, 2006 Dirty chessnut brown with a very hazy warm broun to orange glow. Aroma is caramel ,dry figg and dates, alp flowers, lemon grass, citrus thym, and american hops. The taste is quite strange, it keeps the middle between caramelized fruits and citrussy herbes poured over with the fine bitters of american hops. In the afthertaste there is a fine accent of rasped and slight oxidized apples, with some cane sugar on top. The herbal part remindes me of fresh laurell leafs, rosemary, thym, grass ferns and citrussy hops all well captured in a dry kind of caramel. Picon amer, yeah caramelized sweet orange skins with hops. Kevin (1920), Colorado, USA

clouded brown body with red on the edges and a lasting light gray head. floral perfumy aroma, some nice sweet fruit notes too, i want to say pineapple, and some lemon grass, i wonder if any grains of paradise or corriander were used in this? a note of alcohol is present here too. sweaty perfume flavor that hits me first. some white grape notes, then the dryness kicks in and the hops start to show thenmselves. some pine, but mainly a floral presence, something a bit woody in the finish with a lingering fruit flavor like a pear or a watered down peach. maybe it is apricots, i’m not sure. some light roast in the finish with a smidgen of honey and lemon. great mouthfeel, like a chamois on my tongue. some leather, and more alcohol come out as this warms along with a nice floral and light citrus hop flavor. thanks again, christian. fiulijn (7470), Como; Lausanne (CH); Malmö (SWE), Italy
| 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Oct 2, 2006 Dark brown color; creamy head. Wonderful aroma, complex and delicate; fruity (oranges, dried apricots, peaches…), more mellow than the average IPA; in the background there is a touch of English hops, and the resins give an herbal hint (myrth). Good body structure, not sticky; malty flavor with the addition of caramel; resiny and aromatic hops, strong, to balance the sugars. The final, powerful, has an accent on the burnt sugars. An excellent beer. Thanks Mikkel for saving one for me. fordest (1954), Santee/San Diego, California, USA
| 4.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 10/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 18/20 | Sep 26, 2006 Gigantic thanks to Janka and friends for this 12 oz hand-bottled sample. Huge for many reasons. First becasue they came all the way from Denmark to give it to me. Second because I am the first rater outside of Denmark to rate it. Third because I am the 10th rater and get to make it official. Fourth because it is a really really good beer. Aromas coming out of this murky brown ale were very sweet and fruity. Apricot, Pineapple, Some pine and mango. Head was very nice considering the abuse this beer took to get to me. Foamy long lasting. Hop flavor did not disappoint. I was expecting hop flavors after those aromas. I was not dissapointed. Sweet malts up front then grapefruit bitter on the hops. More pine and floral notes. Sweet malt again with a finial grassy hop finish. Very very tasty. Thanks again guys.
