| 4.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 10/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 18/20 | Sep 26, 2006 Gigantic thanks to Janka and friends for this 12 oz hand-bottled sample. Huge for many reasons. First becasue they came all the way from Denmark to give it to me. Second because I am the first rater outside of Denmark to rate it. Third because I am the 10th rater and get to make it official. Fourth because it is a really really good beer. Aromas coming out of this murky brown ale were very sweet and fruity. Apricot, Pineapple, Some pine and mango. Head was very nice considering the abuse this beer took to get to me. Foamy long lasting. Hop flavor did not disappoint. I was expecting hop flavors after those aromas. I was not dissapointed. Sweet malts up front then grapefruit bitter on the hops. More pine and floral notes. Sweet malt again with a finial grassy hop finish. Very very tasty. Thanks again guys. henrikb (1303), Aarhus, Denmark
| 4.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 5/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 18/20 | Sep 15, 2006 Thanks a billion to Jannik for keeping a bit of this beauty for me and serving it perfectly. Unclear brown body with a beautiful red shine, topped with the creeeeeeeamiest beige head I have seen in a very long time, it leaves thick lacing (I dont see how this beer could have been more beautiful); The nose is as beautiful as the looks, lots of soft and flowery aromas, lots of depth as well as complexity and balance; The body is super soft and velvety textured, with a very pleasant balance; It moves very smoothly into a very long smooth finish, a pleasant bitterness appears and stays long, the hole thing mellows out in a alcohol sweet finish. FANTASTIC!!! If I would have had the chance to rate this beer at home I guess I would have rated it even higher. Grovlam (3825), Copenhagen, Denmark
| 4.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 4/5 | 10/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Feb 6, 2007 Updated: Mar 6, 2007Bottle and my #300. Thanks for sharing this one Mikkel. And I must say, you have done it again, what a wonderful beer this is. Appearance of head was almost creamy like and off-white that mostly lasted. Body was very muddy and thick particles were in the glass. (Evident in the bottom of the glass). Colour was light brownish and again with that muddy look to it. Aroma was quit impressive with first thoughts of a very hoppy American Strong Ale. First note that hits the nose is a bitter version of an elder flower. I had some extract of elder flower to compare it with. Blinding in is also notes of other flora hoppy (cascade and pine) notes mixed in. Malty notes are also present with hints of toasted, molasses, caramel, rye bread and grain. Assisting in the experience is also hints of some dry fruit. What hits the mouth is somewhat unexpected, because it is not as bitter as expected from the first sniff. The beer appeared much more balanced between the bitter and sweet flavours then expected. Also other notes are present in mouthfeel, like liquorice, light smoked and burned candies notes. Flavour is quit bitter with enough of sweet notes to perfectly balance the beer. Again surprisingly the texture is somewhat oily and light alcohol, but some dryness can also be felt. Actually quit bizarre as that shouldn’t be possible. Maybe it is because the finish is more dry like while the mouthfeel is more oily like. Finish is reasonable long, and again left behind the scent of elder flower, molasses and burned candies bitterness. We are still looking for the first 2007 Mikkeller experience and I for one simply can’t wait! padrefan98 (788), (San Diego) Santee, California, USA

Shared with fordest on Superbowl Sunday. I like the strong ale styles and look forward to enjoying some others. Emil (6074), Copenhagen, Denmark

Aroma of cascade, flowers, hops, ... lovely! Caramelish flavour combined with hoppy bitterness, extremely well balanced. Has a warming feel as genever. madsberg (5059), Søborg, Denmark
| 4.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Sep 2, 2006 Draught @ Ølbaren. Dark reddish brown. Unclear. Dense brownish head. Sweetness, fruits, herbs, caramel, berries and light smoky notes in the aroma. Quite delicious. Flavour is very herbal and flowery. Berries and fruits is there as well. Light alcohol notes. Has a balanced bitterness in the end. Full bodied. I can understand why Mikkel and Kristian has changed the name from Humlefryyyd. No one with a little sense would want a beer like this mistakenly compared with a shitty Skands.. JorisPPattyn (5192), Antwerpen, Belgium
| 4.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 5/5 | 16/20 | Jan 13, 2007 Updated: Jan 14, 2007 Somebody ought to learn to read - maybe me. I read Humlefryyyd... Very fine & dense, rosy-foxy head; very hazy red-brown beer. Dry, dry hops’ punch in the face, full strength, with an underlying strong cake with caramel aroma. Nice! this is hopslaced orange and strawberry marmalade. It’s extreme, but there is at the same time an amazing balance. Ends alcoholic - but not pure ethanol, lots of higher alcohols as well. Very well-bodied, alcoholwarming, fully viscous, creamy texture. Mikkel, this is one of your best. I could drink this for hours. Thanks, Carlo!
