Commercial Description:
Brewed by Mikkeller at De Proefbrouwerij in Lochristi, Belgium.

It’s Alive! is Mikkellers answer and tribute to the trappist beer Orval. It’s Alive is an easy-to-drink beer, with a lot of hops. The color is amber, the foam is high, white and dense. The potent Brettanomyces culture makes It’s Alive continue to develop in the bottle.
Ingredients : Water, malt (pale and cara), light candy, hops (hallertauer and styrian goldings), yeast and brettanomyces.

750ml bottle shared by rustychiles at hellbilly’s holiday tasting. Pours clear amber with a thin white head. The nose is floral hops, light funk and caramel malt. The taste is light citrus hops, faint toffee and light barnyard funk. Medium bodied. Not bad at all. Thanks Rusty!

12oz bottle from Coaltrain I think. Lots of plastic phenolic chlorine notes somewhere between a Brett and a high temperature saison. Light sour notes. I love sour beers, but this doesn’t work well. Light yellow amber color. Huge foamy head that lingers. I guess I’m not the biggest Orval fan either, so maybe it is to be expected that this isn’t my favorite either.

750, corked, baled, and foiled. Thanks, BVC! Pours hazy copper with a white ring of foam. Sour cherry and spice nose. Light body, medium carbonation. Cherry vanilla taste with a spicy vanilla finish.

Pours a golden orange color with a white head. Aroma is funk, malt, yeasts. Flavor is funky, yeasts, hops, bitterness, I definitely see the orval influence in this one. Finishes bitter, wild and slightly funky. Good brew.

A really big version of it’s alright. Hazy brown with a fluffy white head. Fruit alcohol and sour aroma and taste with a more rounded bread taste and spicy notes on the back end.

My first Mikkeller brew. We finally got this distributed in Kentucky! Aromas of grape, blueberry, light watered fruits. Flavor is a lot of the same nose characteristics with a bit of hop bite in the finish. Alcohol doesnt drown the flavor at all. Malt body is thinnish. I loved it. I cant wait to try the rest of the lineup.

AMber pour with thick off white head and spotty lace. Candy, brett, and light hops on the nose. Citrus, grapefruit, grass, and a bretty dry finish.
