Commercial Description:
Brewed by Mikkeller at De Proefbrouwerij in Lochristi, Belgium.

It’s Alive! is Mikkellers answer and tribute to the trappist beer Orval. It’s Alive is an easy-to-drink beer, with a lot of hops. The color is amber, the foam is high, white and dense. The potent Brettanomyces culture makes It’s Alive continue to develop in the bottle.
Ingredients : Water, malt (pale and cara), light candy, hops (hallertauer and styrian goldings), yeast and brettanomyces.

1/07/2009: Mikkeller IT’S ALIVE! pours and amber color with a really nice, frothy slightly off-white head and puffy lacing. The aroma is strong and equally malty (toffee) and hoppy (citrus, herbal). The flavor is bubblegum with a definite spicy/peppery herbal quality. There is also a fair amount of maltiness and subtle spiciness. The body is medium to medium-full and feels bubbly on the palate. Overall this is another large, intriguing beer from Mikkeller.

Bottle. Amber pour with little head. Funky aroma with lots of spice. Very dry flavor, some light fruit, floral hops and grassiness. Very interesting beer, though I did not enjoy it as much as I was expecting to.

I’d call this one Saison. Orange/amber color with a thick tan head. Some serious funk in the nose along with a touch of pear juice. Sweet and funky and weird with a bit of a sour tang at the finish. Lively carbonation. Solid.

Bottle shared with Turbo during his feedom holiday.Just another fermented ale belgian aroma with some wood. Orange body with off white head. Light flavor of fruit but that was it. Grainy dry palate and rather thin bodied brew.

Crushed with Jakebra. Kinda spritzy, orangy nose. Strange flavor that changes a lot with each sip, and finishes kinda grassy. Creamy mouthfeel is reminiscent of Leffe blond.

Pours a glowing reddish burnt orange with sparse large carbonation bubbles and a thin fine frothy sudsy white head. Aroma of dusty yeast and funky cheese, some acidity, some light vinegar, and toasted plasticy malts. Flavor is extremely dry and subtle, light cheese, light acidity, light toasted plasticy malts, underwhelming but good. Quick dry finish, not tart or sour. Crisp fizzy medium light body. Sweetens up a bit after sitting at room temp, really enjoyed the second go.

750ml bottle poured into a tumbler. MIA pours hazy brass with a medium-sized head that settles quickly but leaves nice lacing. The initial aroma has tart pears and mowed grass. The tartness settles and becomes more fruity. The mowed grass be comes hay. The body is medium-to-heavy and highly carbonated. The taste is subtle with red apples and typical barnyard tastes. It tastes a bit wild like natural yeasts were used. I will have to read the description on the bottle. The finish is quick, leaving little to no after taste.
