Commercial Description:
Brewed by Mikkeller at De Proefbrouwerij in Lochristi, Belgium.

It’s Alive! is Mikkellers answer and tribute to the trappist beer Orval. It’s Alive is an easy-to-drink beer, with a lot of hops. The color is amber, the foam is high, white and dense. The potent Brettanomyces culture makes It’s Alive continue to develop in the bottle.
Ingredients : Water, malt (pale and cara), light candy, hops (hallertauer and styrian goldings), yeast and brettanomyces.

750ml bottle poured into a tumbler. MIA pours hazy brass with a medium-sized head that settles quickly but leaves nice lacing. The initial aroma has tart pears and mowed grass. The tartness settles and becomes more fruity. The mowed grass be comes hay. The body is medium-to-heavy and highly carbonated. The taste is subtle with red apples and typical barnyard tastes. It tastes a bit wild like natural yeasts were used. I will have to read the description on the bottle. The finish is quick, leaving little to no after taste.

Bottle. Pours hazy amber with a fizzy, off-white head, somewhat diminishing with fair lacing. Aroma is heavy malt -hay, straw, meal-, average hops -flowers-, heavy yeast -horse blanket, barnyard, soap- with notes of medicine, bandage, and burnt plastic. Light bodied, mineral texture, lively carbonation, and a metallic finish. Average duration, light sweetness, acidity, and bitterness.

Funk in the aroma. Alright. This is looking good. The first taste. Oh yes. Lots of funk. Is this a Belgian Ale with brett or just left out to absorb the natural flavor of the outdoors? it works well. Apple. Tart aftertaste. Some grapefruit. Nice.

Tasted 11/3/08. 750ml bottle. Mildly hazy with a golden hue. Web of off-white head. Sugary candy aromas with woody and tart fruit notes. Orange apples and citrus spices. Medium to full bodied with a rather big bitterness. Tart estery flavors. Sweet initial malts with an undertone of apples. Sour with an ample hop finish. Tasty.

Bottle in numerous places. Alround rating: Dry floral and citrus hop, big dusty belgian yeast notes, biscuity malt, the funk is subtle, its a bit over carbonated, alround fairly good stuff.

Pours an orange to amber color with a light offwhite head. Smell is lightly tart and funky with some cherry tartness. Taste is mild but smooth aged caramel with a light dusty funk to it. Not sour as the nose led me to expect, but there is a bit of hoppy rind like flavor with the smooth malt and a touch of dustiness. Decent.
