Commercial Description:
Brewed by Mikkeller at De Proefbrouwerij in Lochristi, Belgium.

It’s Alive! is Mikkellers answer and tribute to the trappist beer Orval. It’s Alive is an easy-to-drink beer, with a lot of hops. The color is amber, the foam is high, white and dense. The potent Brettanomyces culture makes It’s Alive continue to develop in the bottle.
Ingredients : Water, malt (pale and cara), light candy, hops (hallertauer and styrian goldings), yeast and brettanomyces.

750 ml bottle shared. Reddish golden color with a fruity and almost tart aroma. Flavors were still somewhat tart with some cranberry bread and sugar flavors. Pretty tasty.

Amber with a firm tan head. Spicy hop is combined with a slightly bretta and a fruity note. Flavour is hoppy, very bitter, quite harsh. Lack the acidity I expected. I found difficult to empty my glass. I’d probably let it cellar for a while.

Sampled during Minnesota first annual Sourfest and shared by EddieB. Pours a hazy copper amber brew with a heavy and lumpy off-white head that has some nice retention and excellent lacing. Aroma of dark pitted fruits, oranze zest, some barnyard funk, and some bready malt, Taste is medium bodied, some carbonation with flavors of tart dark fruits, yeast, some dry biscuits and citrus zest. Finish has a mild earthy spice aftertaste that even has a light vanilla and yeast flavor. Not too bad!

Pours amber with a big head. Great funky, sour nose, a bit oaky. Flavor is a bit sour with a dry, smokey, oaky aftertaste. I wish it had been more sour. Mouthfeel is good. It’s pretty good, though, I kind of expected more.

It’s hazy, beautiful, orange-red with a huge, creamy and lasting head. The aroma has notes of fruit, oranges and more sharp citrus, malt light sweetness and barnyard. The flavour has sweetness and notes of hops with notes of fruit, citrus in a sharp kind of way, spice, malt and barnyard. I expected it to be more brett-like, but it’s the sharp spicy/hoppy alcohol-bit that bothers me the most, but I could be fooled into thinking this, it might be the doing of the brett...

750, corked, baled, and foiled. Thanks, BVC! Slightly hazy medium amber with loose sudsy tan head. Plenty of steady rising carb. Huge green apple and spice nose. Crisp, almost prickly fizzy body. Beautiful nut, caramel, and biscuit base under a lovely green apple and spice mid-palate. Mild spicy finish. Clearly a tripel, and clearly delicious. Awesome beer.

750ml, caged and synth-corked. Deep hazy copper. Soapy off-white head. COMPLEX! Aroma has some tart fruits, lots of dough, yeasty, malted grain, and some resiny hop. Big woodiness flavor. Very dry. Lots of bread. So much going on. The more it warms, the more seems to come out of the glass.
