The nose offers ginger, funk, leather and lime. Full-bodied and almost chewy with dancing carbonation. Far more bitter and sweet than sour. Lengthy, bitter, dry finish. Pours a hazy orange-copper with an average size diminishing creamy off-white head. Aroma: There’s a surprising amount of hops there along with lots of yeast, some fruit and spices. Flavour’s quite yeasty along with caramel malt, floral hops, fruit and a very long, dry bitter finish. Some funkyness, sourness and spices thrown in for good measure too. Average bodied. An interesting beer, I enjoyed drinking this -- thanks Mike! HogTownHarry (4020), Toronto (Harbourfront), Ontario, Canada
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Sep 21, 2008 Shared by swoopjones with me, blankboy and rudolf. Poured a cloudy deep amber with a smallish off-white creamy head (4-). Aroma of dry yeast and spice, and underpinning of caramel malt and pungent herbal (dry) bitterness. The taste was VERY bitter, a dry resin bitterness that clung to my taste buds, the malt profile seemed a tad burnt, and the finish was very very long indeed. Only average bodied, with huge and somewhat unbalanced bitter astringency, there was a hint of paper in the aftertaste - I didn’t love it, but it’s nice and bitter, and the 8% only seemed to emerge as it warmed up. Lots of Beligan aroma packed into this. Very pleasant, hard to decifre my notes on this one. GreatLibations (1447), Last Supper, Arizona, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 5/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Sep 21, 2008 Pours amber golden with a good head that lingers. Minimal lacing reflects the past. Aromas reveal the wild side with mildly soured stonefruit. Medium nectar with good carbonation. This brew is unlike anything I’ve had before with regard to flavor profile. It’s not your usual BSA. A defined funk is detectable with other flavors of stone fruit, wild apple, citrus, and champagne. The finish is mildly acidic. Very wine like. and very tasty although not a real flavorful beer. chicagodri (1060), Chicago, Illinois, USA
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 17/20 | Sep 21, 2008 Bottle. Pours a cloudy orange/amber. Thin white head. Nice aroma of yeast and citrus hops. It actually had a lot more hops than I was expecting. Solid beer. Once again, another success from Mikkeller. AR (435), Georgia, USA
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Sep 20, 2008 This is an interesting beer. It has a somewhat hazy appearance and a nice head. It has a solid feel with a flavor that is a yeasty, muted citrus. Not a Florida-type citrus, but maybe something like papaya. jfm (1695), Holbæk, Denmark
