Commercial Description:
Brewed by Mikkeller at De Proefbrouwerij in Lochristi, Belgium.

It’s Alive! is Mikkellers answer and tribute to the trappist beer Orval. It’s Alive is an easy-to-drink beer, with a lot of hops. The color is amber, the foam is high, white and dense. The potent Brettanomyces culture makes It’s Alive continue to develop in the bottle.
Ingredients : Water, malt (pale and cara), light candy, hops (hallertauer and styrian goldings), yeast and brettanomyces.

Draught Good yellow head over deep amber beer. Perfumey, almonds, some caramel. Sweet, caramelly, with a bitter hops ending, slightly roasted, whiff of rosemary. Slick, very sugarladen palate. A bit sweet to my taste, was maybe expecting too much plambic.

Hazy Amber color with a decent off white head, with some lacing. Nose is yeasty, dusty, and very much infected with brett. Flavor is the same with some herbs and citrus notes.

Tap @ EBF. Vinegar aroma with apple and raspberry notes. Very sour, dusty and vinegar-like, also very oaky flavor. I’m slightly disappointed, though the complexity is there. Some honey in the aftertaste.

Well hopped and bitter, especially for a Belgian Strong Ale. Yeast, lots of brett, but not sour at all, though maybe it would become sour over time. Full palate, moderate carbonation, and right now, some sugar, which should provide food for that yeast and make interesting things happen.

Delicious and refreshing Belgian Strong courtesy Mr_Stitch. Delicious yeasty aroma with some funk and dark malt. Pour was dark orange with a huge 3 finger tan head with lots of tiny bubbles. Taste was strong, biting and yeasty with orange, apple and brown sugar in the front and a dry bitter aftertaste. Very complex and delicious.

Hazy amber orange color, large head with good lacing and retention. Aroma is funk, sugar, fairly fruity, grass, some barnyard action, bread, sugar, more. There’s quite a bit going on here. Medium bodied, somewhat dry finish but there’s definitely some bret there as well. I dunno, it just didn’t do it for me. Lots going on, but not my preference.

Nose is kind of dusty, yeasty, funk, brett, citrus, sweetness. Taste is sweet, some bitterness, more sweetness, some citrus. Bitter in the finish This is so drinkable. Fantastic head that is rocky as hell and rings the glass the whole time. Some alcohol initially in the palate, but it goes away quickly. Some wateryness in the finish too, all of that detracts from the finish, which is also bitter, but slightly cloying. Very yummy.
