Slightly cloudy light brown, white head. There is some nice brett there as well as a good amount of malt (more than I really wanted), and maybe a bit of oxidation. Its reallly bitter. Not IIPA bitter, but keerist theres a lot of bitterness in there. The maltiness is a bit too forward (for me) but the brett is quite nice. blutt59 (2147), Dallas, Texas, USA

Cloudy orange with lots of white head, lots of lace after. Wierd aroma, but great control. Spiciness with a malted offset. Musty, a funky experience from the wild yeast but very good for what it is. Lovely amber pour, slightly cloudy body (which bodes well for the style) and a fairly sizable head. Nicely funky aroma, and my immediate thought was that this might stack up next to JP La Roja. But it’s actually a very distinctive wild ale, with a very dry and somewhat spicy finish, and an oddly placed but not unappealing nutty flavor in the middle of it. Quite complex, full mouthfeel, very nice. Hansen (2285), Randers, Denmark
| 2.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 4/10 | 2/5 | 4/10 | 3/5 | 8/20 | Aug 31, 2008 Reminds me of Orval, which I dont like! Like ear-wax. Light colour, hazy. Aroma is a bit unpleasent, odd yeasty. Flavor is moderate swee. Astringent. ChainGangGuy (2592), Kennesaw, Georgia, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Aug 28, 2008 Appearance: Pours a clear, dark amber body with a large, frothy, ivory-colored head.
Smell: Aroma smelling of toasty, candyish caramel, spices (particularly pepper), citrus juices, bitter herbs, flowers, must, mildew, and a faint, faroff note of Edam cheese.
Taste: Toasty, candied caramel maltiness with a medium sweetness. Splash of tropical citrus fruits. A spoonful of NyQuil. Green peppercorns, maybe some ginger, too. Strong herbal, floral qualities, all a bit perfumy, and with a decent hit of bitterness. Hint of cheese. Sharp musty yeastiness. Finishes markedly dry with a touch of alcohol.
Mouthfeel: Medium-bodied. Medium-plus body. Very slight oiliness.
Drinkability: A beer inspired by Orval as a homage of sorts, but certainly quite unique in its own right with a complex, zany array of flavors. Fairly decent overall. EHSRanders (1120), Randers C, Denmark
