Commercial Description:
Brewed by Mikkeller at De Proefbrouwerij in Lochristi, Belgium.

It’s Alive! is Mikkellers answer and tribute to the trappist beer Orval. It’s Alive is an easy-to-drink beer, with a lot of hops. The color is amber, the foam is high, white and dense. The potent Brettanomyces culture makes It’s Alive continue to develop in the bottle.
Ingredients : Water, malt (pale and cara), light candy, hops (hallertauer and styrian goldings), yeast and brettanomyces.

Pours a cloudy orange with a small white head. Sweet light aroma, with some spicy hops. Nice hoppy flavor, with a touch of funky earthiness.

( 750ml corked and caged bottle) pours murky orange, huge meringue like head that never goes away and superb lacing. Nose is orangey citrus hops, caramel in back and just a hint of the Brett. The taste has the Brett but nicely balanced. Dry finish like the beer it is a tribute to (Orval) and creamy at the same time. The hops and sweetness are so well balanced I could drink it all night. That being said it could use more of something; spicy, yeast, or sweetness characteristics would do this some huge favors. A great welcome addition to our Tx market.

Bottle. Moderate aromas of roasted and cereal for the malt, lemon/orange and flowers for the hops, broth, leather and musty for the yeast, with hints of clove, ripe fruit and wood. Head is large, fizzy/frothy white with fair lacing and is mostly lasting. Color is murky orange/tan. Flavor starts lightly sweet and moderately acidic, then finishes lightly to moderately acidic and bitter. Palate is medium, watery, with a fizzy carbonation and has a dry and alcoholic finish. Complex in aroma and assertive in flavor, a well crafted Belgian Strong Ale.

Bottle thanks to Bman1113vr. Hazy copper color with a rocky off white head. Aroma is caramel, honey, breadiness, wet leaves. Flavor is bread, spicy belgian yeast, and a hint of Brett. Kinda disappointing.

aroma is foremost a huge stench of brett that borders on body odor. appearance is nearly ruddy brown, very cloudy. head seemed mostly oxygenated as it reduced quickly to just pockets of film and bare lacing. flavor is well bittered with a big sour finish. more brett all around and a metallic twinge in there as well. quite malt forward as the hops dont provide overt citrus or other outright notes. i was worried it would be much more difficult to tell the difference between this and USAlive! but that did not pan out to be true at all.

This bottled brew from a rating party poured a small sized head of foamy fine to medium sized light tan colored bubbles that were and left behind a very hazy brown colored body and a poor lacing. The aroma was hoppy floral malty and yeasty. The mouth feel was very tingly at the start and at the finish. The nice flavor contained notes of hops and brown malt. Delicious and one I would certainly like to have again.

bottle. Pours a clear, dark amber with an off-white head. Nose is floral with perfume and candied fruit. Taste is of mouthwash, brett and fruit. Mouthfeel is dry with lots of carbonation.

Cloudy orange, thin white head. It smells funky and herbal, with maybe a fruity note. Flavor is good - a mix mix of funk and herb (just like George Clinton...), and some woody, winey notes. Certainly tasty, but doesn’t quite come together like an Orval. I liked it a lot, though...
