Extremely musty smell, cobwebs, syrup-soaked hotcakes, grass clippings from last weekend, with an underriding sweetness and barleywine-esche stench. Tastes like those grass clippings, watery wet mouthfeel at colder temps but develops some texture as it warms, hoppy tones are sharp near the finish...the brett got lost somewhere or maybe its dead brett cells that I taste, but it certainly doesn’t taste like "its alive". Saison-esch, I guess I would say..hay-like, a touch hot, in a dry, vodka-like sort of way. Grassy. Better at warmer temps for sure, but muted, or muddled, or something.

Purchased at Gomers in Lee’s Summit, Missouri. Pour is a dark brown copper ruby with a one inch off white rocky head. Medium lacing. Aroma of earthy spicey clove, some vegetal, some dirty horse blanket. In the back there is some husky dried fruit - leathery more than sweet. Taste is dirty funky yeast, more of the soiled horse blanket, mineral, and a strangely harsh maltiness. There are white / black pepper notes. Unique flavor, not sure I have ever tasted anything like this. Palate is medium, mouth coating, flinty mineral with more of the vegetal in the finish. This was a very difficult beer to describe and get my head around. topherh (943), Kearney, Missouri, USA

| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Jul 20, 2009 Bottle. Hazy brown with a small head. Aromas are toffee malts with woody notes. Yeasty with some bubblegum. Flavours are sweet chewy toffee with pine. Yeasty with warming alcohol. Fairly simple but well executed. Rciesla (3880), Exit 15W, New Jersey, USA

A mahogany body with an off white head. Sweet malty caramel, candied sugars, nothing dry or brett y about it. Finishes a bit bitter with a light warming. RIP. alagnak (376), Littleton, Colorado, USA
| 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 5/10 | 2/5 | 12/20 | Jul 13, 2009 Really nice looking in the glass. Deep orange, lively bubbles, big fluffy head that disspates pretty quick. Aroma is spot on, really sour tartness, citrus and sour cherry with some bretty funk. Flavor is kind of all over the place. Flavor starts off as the nose would suggest - tartness, sour fruits and a little bit of barnyard. However, the finish was almost offensively dirty. Heavy dust bunny/ash taste, little to no true ’hop’ character. THe bitterness was there, but not really in a good way. Adtertaste is pronounced and dirty. THis may bave been a bad bottle. It’s a 4 to start, a 2 to finish... RichardGretton (3163), Leicestershire, England

| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Jul 7, 2009 A nice tasting belgian ale with some decent hops and a bit of brett, but not nearly as wild as I’d hoped. Easy to drink, but not very exciting.
