Commercial Description:
Brewed by Mikkeller at De Proefbrouwerij in Lochristi, Belgium.

It’s Alive! is Mikkellers answer and tribute to the trappist beer Orval. It’s Alive is an easy-to-drink beer, with a lot of hops. The color is amber, the foam is high, white and dense. The potent Brettanomyces culture makes It’s Alive continue to develop in the bottle.
Ingredients : Water, malt (pale and cara), light candy, hops (hallertauer and styrian goldings), yeast and brettanomyces.

Another century celebrated with a Mikkeller beer, this time 10400. A reddish amber beer with a medium tan head. The aroma is sweet with notes of fruit especially citrus fruits, grapefruits and limes as well as notes of brettanomyces giving it a slight acidity. The flavor is a mixture of sweet and sour - the sourness is like a very sour grapefruit, but also with notes of peaches, brettanomyces, hay, and grass, leading to a quite dry and tart finish. Nice.

(Bottle 75 cl) Courtesy of Storm. Slightly hazy amber golden with a tall and lively, off-white head. Fresh Bretty nose. Medium-bodied with very dry and bitter accents, spices and Brett. Lightly astringent finish. The Orval inspiration is quite clear, just not as charaterful. 270408

RB# 4000: 75 cL bottle. Pours slight hazy and orange with a slowly collapsing and light orange head. Nice fruity to floral aroma, light orange note and peaches. Light woody brett note in addition. Flavour shows an initial citric brett note that soon is stepping a bit behind a nice medium sweet caramel malt base, shows a remaining sweetness that will allow for a lot of development with this beer when cellared. Following this is solid fruity note, hops it seems, and a dry brett and light citric note. Lending into a rather dry finish. Lovely dry yet controlled brett-ish brew.

Bottled at RBESG. Cloudy amber, brief head. Yeasty nose with some undefined spices. Medium sweet and quite fruity. Lots of caramel, but dominated by yeast. Some light acidity is there. Funky with some pine needles. Salty finish. Complex and interesting, very experimantal. Good, not great in my books, but still a beer I’d like to try many times.

Clear medium yellow amber orange color with a large, frothy, good lancing, mostly diminishing, off-white head. Aroma is moderate to light heavy malty, caramel, moderate to light heavy hoppy, grapefruit, orange, moderate to light heavy yeasty. Flavor is moderate to light heavy sweet and bitter with a average to long duration. Body is medium, texture is oily, carbonation is soft. (240508)

EBF08. Faint caramelly aroma. Hazy amber colour. Nice stable creamy tan head. Good mouthfeel, some alcohol. Acidic and funky notes, subtle but good.

Bottled. Hazy nutbrown colour, mediumsized off-white head. Aroma is quite yeasty, nutty as well as some spices and fruits. Flavour is nutty, yeasty, quite fruity and wooden. Without yeast it’s very much stingier and sweeter. Better with the yeast in.
