Commercial Description:
Brewed by Mikkeller at Ørbæk Bryggeri, Ørbæk, Denmark.
Mikkellers tribute to the foul-mouthed stewardess Jackie Brown from Quentin Tarantino’s movie of the same name. It’s a roasty, chocolaty brown ale with hints of coffee and licorice. Being a Mikkeller brew the malts are inevitably complimented by a great amount of hop bitterness, aroma and flavour.
Ingredients : Water, malt (pale, munich, cara-pils, cara-crystal, brown and chocolate), flaked oats, hops (nugget, simcoe and centennial) and ale yeast.

750ml bottle. Pours a clear, deep brown colored body with a reddish tint. Two-finger width, rocky, tan head that dissipates slowly and leaves a good amount of lacing. Lots of herbal, sprucey citrus hops on the aroma up front. If I dig a little deeper I get some weak chocolate, nuts, and roast, but not much. Flavor is an inherent earthy and herbal hop without much of a malt backing. There is a light nutty toast, chocolate, and roast, but not much. Finishes with a dry, slightly resiny citrus and lingers with lots of herbal bite for a good amount of time. A hint of astringent roast comes through in the finish as well. Medium body with a creamy carbonation. Overall, disappointing. Almost no sweetness to accompany the hops and barely a trace of roasty chocolate. Not a huge fan of this brown ale soley focussed on the herbal hops.

Bottle. Glossy tar with a woolly tan head tufting the glass; faint ruby glints against the light. Aroma straight grapefruit and lychee to begin with, blending into chocolate ice cream, Bovril and burnt toast. Slick, burnt and punching; grapefruit bitterness; high cocoa, tonic water and incinerated pistachio in a deep, resonating finish. Silky and integrated, especially the dregs. Very good. At least as good as Mostodolce Jacky Brown.

Bottle. Mahogony beer with a huge cream colored head. Toffee and light roast aroma. Nutty, toffee flavor with light hops. Medium bodied. Toffee, nuttiness, and light hops linger.

Not your traditional brown ale, but that’s a good thing in m book.A lively head with lots of lacing. Lots of roasted malt and coffee in the aroma and in the flavor. Starts off with a bright, slightly fruity burst but then finishes with a very dry, hop/coffee bitterness. Very nice.

Pours a dark brown color with very slight amber edges when held to a light source and a huge frothy, pillowy light beige head. Excellent retention, only slowly fading to a lasting cap that leaves large chunks of soapy lacing on it’s way down. Roasted coffee aroma with chocolate malt notes, licorice, oatmeal, caramel and hazelnut. Once again the flavor is dominated by roasted malt with hints of oatmeal, roasted coffee, toffee, chocolate, burnt toast, caramel, nut and a subtle dry hoppy finish.

On tap at SBWF. There was nothing wrong with the beer. Looks and all that but the taste was a bit thin. Chocolate, caramel and coffee tones and some nuts. The beer not bad but neither exactly exciting. I thought the smell was more fun than flavor, although there was no strong fragrance.

Bottle: The aroma consists of chocolate, roasted nuts, and hint of coffee. It pours a hazy, bordering on cloudy, orangish-brown with a moderate khaki head with good retention. The flavor starts with chocolate with a hint of roasted coffee in the background. The finish is lightly nutty with a hint of piney hops. Light-medium bodied with somewhat soft carbonation.
