Commercial Description:
Brewed by Mikkeller at Ørbæk Bryggeri, Ørbæk, Denmark.
Mikkellers tribute to the foul-mouthed stewardess Jackie Brown from Quentin Tarantino’s movie of the same name. It’s a roasty, chocolaty brown ale with hints of coffee and licorice. Being a Mikkeller brew the malts are inevitably complimented by a great amount of hop bitterness, aroma and flavour.
Ingredients : Water, malt (pale, munich, cara-pils, cara-crystal, brown and chocolate), flaked oats, hops (nugget, simcoe and centennial) and ale yeast.

Dark amber color out of the bottle with a big, frothy head that left rings of lace on my glass. The nose is chalky with dusty chocolate and something that reminded me of dry dog food. The flavor has lots of roasted grain, chocolate and burnt toast. The finish shows the hops, with a long green finish that tends toward the grassy. Really nice brown ale.

Pours attractive deep brown with a full cream colored head. The nose is rich and full of malt and subtle pine, woodsy notes. The flavor is a bit grainy, earthy and malt astringent. Dry, gritty finish. Not their best stuff.

Bomber bottle at Spuyten Dyuvil. My first of hopefully many more Mikkellers. Don’t usually go for brown, but thought the name was cool. So I was very surprised by how hoppy the nose was for a brown beer. Oh yea, and it poured a rich deep brown. Also had coffee and chocolate, and some burnt notes. Nice smooth lightly carbonated mouthful. The hops interact well with the chocolate and coffee, and makes for an interesting and intense bitter finish. I really enjoyed this, even on a hot summer day

Pours a dark brown with a large head. The aroma has a nice nuttiness, a lot like hazelnuts along with some chocolate. The only problem comes in the flavor where the bitterness turns unpleasant compared to the malt profile in this one.

This bottled brew from Indianapolis, IN poured a large sized head of foamy long lasting brown colored finely sized bubbles that left behind a hazy brown colored typically carbonated body and a fair lacing. The aroma was of soft brown malt hop and caramel notes. The mouth feel was tingly and crisp from start to finish. The flavor was mildly vinous with brown malt and medium hop notes.

375ml bottle. Pours a deep, hazy brown - dark with ruby and copper highlights. The head pours light tan in color and very thick. The head is soft and tightly bubbled - light egg-whites. It leaves a lot of thick, uneven patches and legs of lace all over the glass. The aroma is astounding - the perfect blend of citrus hops, coffee and roasted grains, and dark caramel. The flavor starts quite hoppy with citrus/grapefruit flavors. As the beer slides toward mid-palate, the roasted grain and chocolate flavors slowly build. At mid-palate there is a pleasant mix of citrusy bitter hops and roasted grains. The finish is dry and hoppy with a strong hop bitterness and a deep, coffee-like, roasted grain flavor. The mouthfeel is medium in body and somewhat creamy. The carbonation level is firm but not too vigorous. Overall, a nice beer - much hoppier and much more citrus than I was expecting. It could use a little less bitterness and a touch more chocolate/nutty character, considering it is suppoed to be a brown ale. But still, a very tasty offering.

Pours a very lightly hazy chestnut brown color. A frothy, light cream colored head settles to a thin layer with a pronounced, bubbly congregation at the edge. Nice honeycomb lacing marks the glass well. Aromas include roasted coffee beans, burnt toast, and a surprisingly potent grapefruit and pine resin hop billing. Flavors are strikingly bitter, and not at all what I was expecting. Biting pine and grapefruit hit immediately, followed by spent coffee grounds and toasted biscuit. There’s hardly any sweetness going on here, and it finishes dry and downright astringent. Medium to thin bodied with a lively carbonation. Quite simply put, this beer is a borderline mess.

Bottle. Large tan head with a good amount of lacing, hazy, and a brown hue. The aroma was malt, toasty, chocolate, citrus hops, and grapefruit. Ditto for the flavor. Medium bodied. Quaffable, easy to drink, lingering hoppy aftertaste, worthy of a try, and I would enjoy drinking this beer again if it comes my way again. Nicely done!
