Mikkeller Jackie Brown

Pours deep brown color with a white-ish head. Roasty aroma with a full coffee and chocolate flavor. It’s bitterness exceeds that of any other brown ale I’ve tried.

dark murky brown beer with red highlights under a creamy beige head. sweet milk chocolate and roast aroma. a nice milk chocolate, coffee flavor. touches of vanilla and hops. creamy but well carbonated. a nice medium bodied brown with a full robust flavor.

Bottle. Clear brown colour with small creamy off-white mostly diminishing head. Aroma is roasted malt and caramel. Sweet flavor with notes of caramel.

Pours a dark mahogany brown with a rocky off white head that dissipates to wisp of foam on top leaving very good lacing. The smell surprised me with the hops, much hoppier than the normal American brown with the big fresh pine hops popping up front. There is also a slight burnt coffee smell with chocolate as well all on top of a faint sweet malt background. There is a more pronounced roasted malt flavor up front than in the aroma, but that is really just an intro to the big piny fresh hop flavor. The coffee and chocolate are still there but more in the background in the taste. The finish is back to the hop bitterness, almost an IPA-like aftertaste. Mouthfeel is medium bodied with strong carbonation and the hoppiness tingles the tongue more than just about any brown I’ve tasted. This is one of the more interesting brown ales I’ve tasted as Mikkeller has amped up the hoppiness in this one. Drinkability is probably a little diminished by the hop bitterness, but not too bad. Complex, tasty, and highly recommended.

Bottle coutesy Gillard. Pours a clear brown amber with a large light tan head that leaves great lacing. Aroma of coffee, tons of hops, and a hint of licorice. Taste is the same as aroma. Medium thin mouthfeel with a moderate to strong amount of bitterness. Good.

Bottle: Courtesy of cmr1517...pours a translucent brown with no head. Aroma consists of nutty malt and coffee with some mild chocolate notes lingering. This is very disappointing in the body...very light and thin. The flavor pretty much follows the nose with the nutty malt base but it finishes on an awkward, dry hopped note. Not too impressed

the best thing about this beer is the appearance - deep brown with a frothy head that never disappears. The worst thing is the mouthfeel - kinda thin and doesn’t do much for me. Very flavorful and aroma is hoppy and pleasant. Overall, very enjoyable beer but not a great value- pretty pricey for just a good beer.

moderate tan head. dark amber color. smells like mocha and coffee. very roasty. overpoweringly so. not my idea of a good time
