Big egg shell head that ain’t fading anytime soon. Big blast of pine scented aroma hops, along with a hint of coffee and nuttiness. The flavor is all hops to me as well. Long grass bitter finish as well. Where in the hell is the malt? Med/light body. Average carbonation. Dry finish. This beer could be so much more with a bit of malt flavor. | 4.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 5/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 19/20 | Mar 23, 2008 Super tasty, rich toasted coffee/chocolate malt, nice use of hops....well done brown ale!! The hop addition, like Brooklyn’s Brown version, does the brown ale genre justice....Well worth the money!! BeerandBlues2 (3203), Colorado Springs, Colorado, USA
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Mar 21, 2008 1 pt .9 oz bottle purchased at Liquor Max in Loveland, CO. Pours dark brown with a large, frothy, light brown head, somewhat lasting with good lacing. Aroma is average malt (toasted grain, meal, straw), heavy hops (perfume, flowers, pine), light yeast (leather) with notes of liquorice and cola. Medium bodied, sticky texture, average carbonation, and a bitter finish. Long duration, light sweetness, heavy acidity and bitterness. Overall, a well-crafted beer but the amount of hops make it damned hard to find the chocolate malt and coffee touted to be in here. This is easily the hoppiest brown ale I have sampled. | 4.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 5/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 18/20 | Mar 20, 2008 JB is marvelous (Billy Crystal). A cold pour serves up a coffee brown color and a tall lingering froth that reduces to a fluffy canopy and lace w/ sticky snail tracks on the sidewalls. The aroma, a nice balance of roasted coffee and citrus rind. Medium full nectar with superb carbonation. The texture is like soft high threadcount Egyption cotton. A big malty bacobone balanced by a strong citrus rind bittering component. Mildly roasted coffee bean, cocoa, citrus peel, and leather. The finish is bittered well leaving cocoa and asprin to linger. Overall: this is one of the best brown ales I’ve had. Excellent use of hops, solid chocolate malting, just marvelous. Highly recommended. aubreya (676), Chapel Hill, North Carolina, USA

| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 17/20 | Mar 20, 2008 Picked up from Bruisin Ales. Pours a hazy brown, allows more light through than I would have expected. Has a two finger creamy sticky light tan head. The aroma is sweet, hoppy, chocolaty, malty. The flavor is very hoppy and waxy, chocolaty, roasty, a lactose flavor too. Nice smooth palate with a lot of hop bitterness. pnista (1008), Bloomington, Indiana, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Mar 19, 2008 Pours a darker brown with a healthy light tan head. The nose is lightly sweet and slightly nutty with a good hit of some hops and coffee roast. The mouthfeel is a bit fuller than average. The flavor is in line with the nose. Light sweetness, reminiscent of Beer Geek Breakfast, with far less roast. Still a hint of roast, mostly from the coffee. Which is odd for a brown. A liberal dose of hops for the style. Drinkable, but not the exceptional brew one would expect from Mikkeller for the price. Blom (390), Odense, Denmark
| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 5/5 | 15/20 | Mar 17, 2008 Dark brown with a huge greyish head. A very hoppy aroma given the style, with some notes of coffee and chocoate. The flavour is also dominated by hoppy bitterness but in combination with nuts and roasted malts. I’m very fond of the creamy texture and full body of this foxy lady.
