emacgee (1859), Chapel Hill, North Carolina, USA Mar 20, 2008 Picked up from Bruisin Ales. Pours a hazy brown, allows more light through than I would have expected. Has a two finger creamy sticky light tan head. The aroma is sweet, hoppy, chocolaty, malty. The flavor is very hoppy and waxy, chocolaty, roasty, a lactose flavor too. Nice smooth palate with a lot of hop bitterness. pnista (1008), Bloomington, Indiana, USA Mar 19, 2008 Pours a darker brown with a healthy light tan head. The nose is lightly sweet and slightly nutty with a good hit of some hops and coffee roast. The mouthfeel is a bit fuller than average. The flavor is in line with the nose. Light sweetness, reminiscent of Beer Geek Breakfast, with far less roast. Still a hint of roast, mostly from the coffee. Which is odd for a brown. A liberal dose of hops for the style. Drinkable, but not the exceptional brew one would expect from Mikkeller for the price. Blom (390), Odense, Denmark Mar 17, 2008 Dark brown with a huge greyish head. A very hoppy aroma given the style, with some notes of coffee and chocoate. The flavour is also dominated by hoppy bitterness but in combination with nuts and roasted malts. I’m very fond of the creamy texture and full body of this foxy lady. michael-pollack (2603), King of Prussia, Pennsylvania, USA Mar 16, 2008 500ml Bottle: Aroma of roasting, chocolate, citrus hops, astringent, and licorice. Poured dark brown/mahogany in color with a huge, foamy, dense, rocky, beige head that lasted throughout. Cloudy. Sparkling. Full of medium-sized particles. Very good lacing. Flavor is lightly sweet and light to medium bitter. Tastes of roasted malts, chocolate, coffee, citrus hops, and bittersweet sugar. Medium body. Sticky, chalky texture. Average to lively carbonation. Bitter, roasted, chocolate, finish is nice and dry. BOLTZ7555 (1053), Phoenix, Arizona, USA Mar 15, 2008 Jackie Amber is a hoppy addition to a traditionally unhoppy style. Huge khaki head and incredible lacing accompany a dark amber body (yes, not a lot of brown in Jackie Brown). Chocolate, smoke, and roasted nuts are evident but their is a unique hop bitterness that lingers on the palate long after the tasting. Interesting. tytoanderso (1382), St. Louis Park, Minnesota, USA Mar 12, 2008 Bottle. Pine, wood, bitter chocolate, dry yeast, roasted malt. Pours a dark, nearly opaque brown with a thick light khaki head leaving nice lacing all the way down the glass. Flavor is bitter toasted malt and bitter hops. Coffee grounds. Lacking definition. Medium bodied. Lively carbonation. One of my least favorite from this brewery. lordeche (397), Quincy, Massachusetts, USA Mar 11, 2008 Pours brown with bubbly white head. Very hoppy aroma for a brown ale in my estimation. Lots of pine complimented by some chocolate, coffee, and nutty yeast in the aroma. Flavor begins quite bitter and hoppy, but mellows as is moves back on the tongue to subtle roasted hazenut coffee notes. Definitely the best brown ale I’ve had. wickedpete (625), Lexington Park, Maryland, USA Mar 3, 2008 Thanks to Ken for this one. Clear brown body, pillowy beige head which persists. Piney hop aroma. Flavor is roasted and ashy, hoppy bitter. A strong dry bitterness lasts.
