Poured dark brown/mahogany in color with a huge, foamy, dense, rocky, beige head that lasted throughout. Cloudy. Sparkling. Full of medium-sized particles. Very good lacing. Flavor is lightly sweet and light to medium bitter. Tastes of roasted malts, chocolate, coffee, citrus hops, and bittersweet sugar. Medium body. Sticky, chalky texture. Average to lively carbonation. Bitter, roasted, chocolate, finish is nice and dry. BOLTZ7555 (1075), Phoenix, Arizona, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Mar 15, 2008 Jackie Amber is a hoppy addition to a traditionally unhoppy style. Huge khaki head and incredible lacing accompany a dark amber body (yes, not a lot of brown in Jackie Brown). Chocolate, smoke, and roasted nuts are evident but their is a unique hop bitterness that lingers on the palate long after the tasting. Interesting. tytoanderso (1386), St. Louis Park, Minnesota, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Mar 12, 2008 Bottle. Pine, wood, bitter chocolate, dry yeast, roasted malt. Pours a dark, nearly opaque brown with a thick light khaki head leaving nice lacing all the way down the glass. Flavor is bitter toasted malt and bitter hops. Coffee grounds. Lacking definition. Medium bodied. Lively carbonation. One of my least favorite from this brewery. lordeche (397), Quincy, Massachusetts, USA
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Mar 11, 2008 Pours brown with bubbly white head. Very hoppy aroma for a brown ale in my estimation. Lots of pine complimented by some chocolate, coffee, and nutty yeast in the aroma. Flavor begins quite bitter and hoppy, but mellows as is moves back on the tongue to subtle roasted hazenut coffee notes. Definitely the best brown ale I’ve had. wickedpete (626), Lexington Park, Maryland, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Mar 3, 2008 Thanks to Ken for this one. Clear brown body, pillowy beige head which persists. Piney hop aroma. Flavor is roasted and ashy, hoppy bitter. A strong dry bitterness lasts. DocLock (4648), Lower Pottsgrove, Pennsylvania, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Mar 3, 2008 Bottle. Pours hazy dark brown with 3-finger tan head. Aroma was roasty malty, with brown sugar, mild chocolate, and mild hops. Tastes rich, roasty malty, with some brown sugary nuts, mild chocolate, and a solid dose of finishing hops. This one is a nice take on a rather boring style. argo0 (6890), Washington DC, USA

| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 5/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Mar 1, 2008 22oz bottle. Pours a dark, clear reddish-tea color; huge, textured light tan head with fantastic retention and lacing; a nice pour. Lots of dark, bitter chocolate and coffee and mineral bitterness in the aroma; lots of coffee and breadiness present. Medium-to-full mouthfeel: bitter chocolate, breadiness, toasted malts, and coffee throughout; an especially generous brown ale, with a nice level of mineral bitterness. Lengthy finish, showing bitter chocolate, bread, and coffee.
