Aroma of hops, well toasted malt, caramel and some chocolate. The flavour is quite hoppy with toasted malt and caramel, chocolate and coffee. Sweet bitter hoppy finish. TASTY! Bov (5403), Bienne, Switzerland Jul 28, 2007 courtesy of Papose - cloudy dark brown colour, little irregular foam; toasty, strong mocha aroma with notes of cookies, nuts and vanilla; creamy mouthfeel with a good malt body; some initial sweetness before a solid bitterness; long mocha, malty and hoppy finish - another beauty from Mikkeller drewbeerme (2224), Chicago, Illinois, USA Jul 26, 2007 22oz, thanks fonefone. nice to see Mikkeller pay respects to a great film. pours dark brown with cream colored head. a pretty chocolaty nose and wood. flavor slightly lactic at first but mellows into a smooth milk chocolate and roasty finish. a nice brown ale. HogTownHarry (3922), Toronto (Harbourfront), Ontario, Canada Jul 25, 2007 Bottle (650ml). Shared with biegaman and blankboy, my bottle. Deep mahogany pour, clear, smallish frothy beige head. Aroma - first impression, dry, nutty, dark chocolate, low-level dry resin hops - really good, made me look forward to the taste. And the taste - yummmmm - lush dry green resin hops, dry cocoa and nutshell malt, no alcohol presence - has a long, dry, bitter finish - lovely. Average body, astringent, long, long bitter nutshell linger. Bloody freakin’ marvelous! OleR (2007), Oslo, Norway Jul 24, 2007 Bottle. Thin brownish head over a dark brown opaque body. Aroma is very hoppy; grapefruit and pine. Also dry roasted malts and and coffee-beans. Dry malts, bitter chocolate, espresso and a good amount of bittering hops in the flavor. Salty notes. Medium body. Roasty and bitter finish. A powerful Brown ale... smells like an IPA and taste like a Dry Stout. Svesse (2597), Hässelby, Sweden Jul 20, 2007 (Bottle) Dark reddish brown colour with huge, foamy beige head. Malty nose dominated by chocolate, with notes of caramel, roasted nuts and citrussy hops. Roasted, malty taste with chocolate, caramel, coffee, liquorice and loads of citrussy, grapefruity hops in the finish. Lots of bitter chocolate and unsweetened cocoa in the finish. Medium body, smooth mouthfeel, mainly dry. Great beer, one of the best brown ales around. Adenila (931), Denmark Jul 17, 2007 <#300>Dark brown look, with a light brown head. Aroma of roasted chocolate malts and a nice hob blend, like a roasted malt ipa...or something. Flavor is mainly bitter. A mix between the raw chocolate, and the hobs. Has a medium bodie, which makes it alot more drinkable than a stout, and of course the powerfull hob profile makes it more fresh and interesting than the standard brown ale. Holds a resemblance to the american brown ales. I find the palate quite oily, though not as thich - but very smooth. The chocolate follows nicely into the aftertaste. thomahan (27), Denmark Jul 16, 2007 A brown ale with lots of taste and bit. Like the chocolate and the roasted malty taste. The aftertaste of the hops works very well
