Wet herbal hops and their inherent earthiness swerve around the roasted maltiness and its accompanying chestnuts. A flavorful pint of Brown Ale this is, which gains cohesion, balance and wealth after a few months of aging.
Further Personal Perceptions:
-A veil of foam sits atop the limpid brown ochre, lacing nicely.
-The effervescent carbonation enlightens the healthy maltiness.
-The fruity nuttiness is a little too shy and dry for my tastes in the style.
-The dry, resinous, earthy hop bitterness is rather important.
-A citrusy character rises from the hops.

Draught at Ølfestival 2007. Redish brown amber colour with a good tan head. Usual surprising hoppy note to the nose with some nice alcoholic maltyness and German like cereal hints. Hops are there in the flavour too but not quite so upfront giving centre stage instead to some wonderful roasty coffee character and chewy rubber. Bitterness comes in like a punch at the finish. Awesome. Another cracker from Mikkeller. omhper (12171), Stockholm, Sweden
| 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 11/20 | May 14, 2007 Draught at Københavnske Øldage. Dark brown. Some grapefruity hops up front. Very dry and very salty, notes of chocolate. The clean mouthfeel makes it a bit harsh. Lots of aromatic hops polishes trhe surface, but the malt character is a bit raw. Not my favourite Mikkeller. | 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | May 5, 2007 Bottle sampled on 3/12/07: Pours a transparent dark copper mahogany with a frothy, well-lacing tan head. Big, fresh piny hoppy and milk chocolatey aroma. Body starts fairly full with a light earthy caramel sweetness with lots of piny bitterness toward a big, lingering roasty finish. A very nice brown ale. jfm (1695), Holbæk, Denmark
