jesperhammer (260), Copenhagen, Denmark Mar 22, 2009 Bottle. Tasted at Ulkløbben.
Dark brown with beige head.
Good nose of sweet charamel and nuts. A little creamy. Good brown ale, but after smoke beer and beer geek brunch it is nothing special. wyzzywyz22 (754), Wirral, Merseyside, England Mar 19, 2009 Bottle, The Rake, London. Big ups for naming this after a top movie...’Poured a murky brown colour with a creamy biege head..Great aroma with hops, caramel, roasted coffee bean, chocolate and hazlenut all jostling for position..These themes continue on, with a further big hit of roasted coffee in the flavour, but it works really well with some great hoppage mixing with the roasted mal to give it wonderful balancet. Lip smackin’, long dry bitter finish. Very good stuff indeed.
’Not if your ambition is to get high and watch TV’ Zinister (1198), Houston, Texas, USA Mar 14, 2009 Brown color with off-white head. Nose of oats, roasted malts, toffee and chocolate. Flavor is roasty, bitter and full off coffee and chocolate. Dry finish. Geiserich (1775), Vienna, Austria Mar 13, 2009 Bottled: Huge foamy, off-white head, dark brown color. Aroma with intensive notes of oat, roasted malt, toffee, light hints of chocolate and some coffee. Taste is light malty with caramel notes, roast bitter, fruity with notes of citrus and a coffee and roasted malt bitterness. Intensive bitter hop notes in the end, very dry biter finish. ilovedarkbeer (1326), Dallas, Texas, USA Mar 9, 2009 Pours a brilliant brownish amber color with a puffy off-white head. Notes of weak coffee, bitter chocolate, licorice, and some caramel. Mouthfeel is rather thin and the taste is one dimensional. Over all just ok. Brown ales are generally not my thing. NomDeBeer (397), Maryland, USA Mar 7, 2009 Pours a thin yet dark brown color with a fluffy, off-white head. Aroma is mostly citrus hops. Taste is a little dark bitter chocolate, coffee, grapefruit, and ash. Soft, smooth mouthfeel. Nice lacing too. Plenty of bitter hoppiness in the back of the throat - more than expected for a brown ale. Very enjoyable. snakeoilpete (324), Seattle, Washington, USA Mar 6, 2009 Updated: Apr 2, 2009Bottle. Pours hazy deep reddish brown with a nice frothy tan head. Aroma is toasted oats, almonds, chocolate, and citrusy hops. Taste adds coffee and a little bit of licorice. Medium body, slightly creamy. Finish is bitter coffee and hops, but a biscuity taste lingers after a while. ericandersnavy (1039), crossroads, Texas, USA Mar 4, 2009 huge thanks to blutt59 for this bottle. poured brown with a beige head and nice lacing. aroma of caramel, nuts, and dark roasts. flavor was the same with the addition of some nice hop bitter and what seemed to be a touch of oak. medium body with high carbonation. this was a good brown ale.
