Perhaps it’s just because i’m not that fond of this kind of beer. But it was nothing specail, and it felt like i could get somewhat the same taste from ordinary beers in a way cheaper price category. If i disregard price the beerr is okay, drinkable, nice, quite good. quite bitter and smoked. The other mikkeler i’ve tasted have been a lot better.
i guess it’s the uncompromized mix of bitterness and a hint of burnt wood’ness that turns me off. Perhaps the alc.% is too low??

| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Aug 19, 2009 Sample at JaBier’s refrigerator reduction tasting on 08/15/09. This brew is a murky dark brown-amber color with a medium beige head that recedes slowly. Stringy lacing on the glass. Coffee and citrusy hops in the nose as well as some roasted malt. Medium body with a flavorful blend of roasted coffee and malt flavors as well as brown sugar, chocolate and hops. The finish is roasty with a lingering hops aftertaste. Pretty good overall. | 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Oct 2, 2008 Aroma is roasted, nearly toasted malt, and an influence of nuts also. Deep brown, pours a small tan head. Flavour is toasty malt, pleasant nuttiness, with some woody undertones. Medium bodied, very nicely balanced, lovely mouthfeel. Fabulous! | 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | May 23, 2007 Partly cloudy brown body with red highlights topped by a small beige ring of foam leaving very little lacings. Nose or earthy malts (very “brown” nose). Pleasant round body that rolls in the mouth. Lots of small bubbles. Taste is unfortunately rather simple, enjoyable but simple. Flavours of chestnuts and berries with lots of juicy woody hops. The woody hops are so present that it almost gives the beer a barrel-like flavour. Whether a Tarantino movie or a Mikkeller beer, Jackie brown is very good but I was expecting something more given the creator’s track record. Rune (2840), Tromsø, Norway
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Jun 5, 2007 660ml bottle from Barley Wine, Copenhagen. Opaque dark brown body under a frothy beige head with a lots of small bubbles leaving great lacing on the glass. Plain chocolate aroma. Cocoa flavour supported by dark malts and roasted oats sharpened by a lingering bitter tail. Medium to full bodied (shared with Finn while watching the dramatic football match Denmark vs. Sweden on TV - we also had a delicious Carnegie Stark Porter, vintage 2003 - 02.06.2007). thebeertourist (2820), Oslo, Norway
| 4.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 5/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 18/20 | Nov 26, 2006 Bottle at Nørrebro Bryghus. Deep burgundy red with a great khaki head. The nose promises chocolate, berries, citrus and everything that is good in beer. The flavours do deliver with a great hop bitterness that leaves the mouth very dry. Good body, a bit sirupy. One of the best beers I have tasted for some time. beerinmarch (2810), Washington, USA
| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Mar 26, 2008 This is how to make a brown ale. Solid warming malt presence, rich chocolate roasty flavors. Hops enough to balance but not distract from the malts. Smooth and creamy palate.
