Commercial Description:
Brewed by Mikkeller at Ørbæk Bryggeri, Ørbæk, Denmark.
Mikkellers tribute to the foul-mouthed stewardess Jackie Brown from Quentin Tarantino’s movie of the same name. It’s a roasty, chocolaty brown ale with hints of coffee and licorice. Being a Mikkeller brew the malts are inevitably complimented by a great amount of hop bitterness, aroma and flavour.
Ingredients : Water, malt (pale, munich, cara-pils, cara-crystal, brown and chocolate), flaked oats, hops (nugget, simcoe and centennial) and ale yeast.

Bottle (66 cl) from Ølbutikken, Copenhagen, Denmark. An American style brown ale with dominant piney hop aromas, and some roasted chocolate notes in the background. If I close my eyes I think I can sense some of those green pepper notes that abound in Beer Geek Breakfeast and Black Hole. Clear reddish brown with a large and long-lasting tan head, medium bodied with soft carbonation. Very bitter finish. Very nice but I would prefer the bitterness and hop aromas to be moderated a bit to give room for a more roasted malt profile.

Pours a dark brown with a large head. The aroma has a nice nuttiness, a lot like hazelnuts along with some chocolate. The only problem comes in the flavor where the bitterness turns unpleasant compared to the malt profile in this one.

Bottle: Poured a medium clear brown color ale with a medium slightly off-white foamy head with better then average retention. Aroma of medium coffee with light nutty malt. Taste of coffee is domination but not overpowering with some light and subtle nutty malt notes. Body is lighter then expected with some adequate carbonation. Overall, I would say this is an interesting take on a usually boring style.

Bottle from SL, and wow was this sucker bitter! Pour was brown with an ok head and lacing. Aroma was strong piney type hops, strong roast, coffee. The flavor was strong coffee-choco with a level of roast that was astringently bitter, licorice, finishing with a mouthfull of hops bitterness. Sorry, not my cup of tea, over the top roasted bitterness, mouthfeel somewhat thin for as big as this thing looked and tasted.

bottle from Pizza Port. Red amber with a fizzy white head. Citrus and huge hoppy nose. Herbal tea like citrus earthy hops, bitter bite, and a robust coffee taste. Quite good.

Pours with a dark brown body with red tinting, topped by an off-white, thick head with some lacing. It’s sweet and malty with a little fruit and a nice raosty bitterness in the finish. Medium bodied and slightly dry.

Too much bitterness, too hopped. Nothing else but bitterness. Ok, perhaps an astringent finish. Brown, lightly unclear.
