Great head atop the brown liquid. Aromas were ok, some metallic but otherwise malty and chocolatey. Flavors were better, Chocolate and other roasty malts. Nice bitter finish. Aroma is fairly hoppy with notes of chocolate, caramel and roast. Pretty big aroma and flavor. Clean, somewhat bitter mouthfeel. Big flavors, nice balance, not a lot of complexity. | 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Jun 10, 2007 A dark brown appearance with a roasted nut and chocolate aroma. The flavor consists of nutmeg, dark chocolate, and coffee. A dry slightly alcoholic finish. This seemed to walk the line between a brown and a porter. A nice one indeed. swoopjones (1919), Buffalo, New York, USA

Aromas of piney hops & some maltiness. Pours a very nice caramel colored brown with amber hues. Very long lasting head that never dissapated. Hops dominate the malts here. More a IPA IMO than a brown. Nice hop flavor throughout with malty backbone to add balance. Light fruitiness after initial hop bitterness. Another great beer from mikkeller ucusty (1908), Wake Forest, North Carolina, USA
