| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | May 9, 2007 Hazy brown hue, with a thick beige head, leaving laces, toasted malt nose, with a nice nutty accent, with some mochaish notes, hint of chocolate milk and espresso coffee, with a roasted coffee bean and a faint liquorice aroma follows through on a medium-bodied palate with a yeasty chocolatey toasted malt character, with some black roasted malt coffeish flavors, with a good flowery hop bitterness mouthfeel, hint of nuttiness, a nutmeg spiciness, leading towards malt roastiness and a leafy hop bittering finish. thornecb (1804), Marblehead, Massachusetts, USA
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Apr 2, 2008 Pours a ruby-tinged mahogany into a shaker. Off-white micro head expands to tophat the rim. Smoked malt aromas. Crisp sour caramel with a smoky malt middle and a lasting citrus hop finish. Not a lot of balance. The bitter finish tends to overwhelm the tastebuds after a while. | 2.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 11/20 | Apr 23, 2008 This is a bitter beer that makes a substandard brown. it does have a toasty feel and the hops are grass and pine. Its different but not bad Geiserich (1790), Vienna, Austria

| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Jun 20, 2007 [bottle] Dark reddish brown. Medium head. Malty chocolate aroma with notes of hops. Roasted chocolate flavour which soon gets washed away by a wave of hops. Interesting, but maybe not a total success. JCB (1786), Durham, North Carolina, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Jul 20, 2008 500ml from Bruisin Ales, Asheville, delivered to me by the great Turdferguson - thanks, Sam! Nice full pour with lots of lively carbonation, and an impressive cafe au lait head on it. The aroma is very roasty and the flavor’s a complex take on a hoppy brown, with some fruits in there, bitter chocolate, some modest coffee. Well done. sunevdj (1785), Copenhagen OE, Denmark
