bottle from west lakeview..... pours a dark caramel brown with a thin off-white film of head at the top of the glass..... aromas of roasted caramel malt and light hops to supplement the malts..... flavors initially start off pretty bitter from the hops. the sweeter caramel malts peak through as it warms but the combination of the two seem a little off in my mind. mouthfeel was relatively nice and creamy. perhaps i wasn’t expecting so much bitterness which is what ultimately detracted from its enjoyability.l

70 cl. bottle Brown unclear colour with a beige creamy head. Hoppy and caramel aroma and flavour as well hoppy and much bitter finish.

Bottle, picked up in Aarhus. Warm brown pour, big tan layer of foam settling in sticky, picture-perfect lacing. A rich full toasted grain character: soda crackers, shortbread, pastry, accented with dark toffee and fresh coffee notes. Grassy hops around the edges. Lovely coffee flavor, filled out with generous bourbon-laced pecan pie sweetness. Brisk hops, hay and resin. Does what a brown should do (comfort my soul with malty goodness), but hoppy enough to be it’s own unique creature. And better coffee character than most beers with coffee actually in them. Memorably delicious.

Dark brown color with a thick beige foam. Lots of coffe and chocolate tones. Fine flavour of sweet coffee, nicely roasted, vinous notes. Very good beer.

Bottle Dark brown/red colour, with a nice head. Aroma of coffee,toffee, and chocolate.Drynes in the end but still a nice balnced. This was a nice suprice! Werry good, this was the best imp- brown ale I have tasted.

Brown cherry colour with a small off white head, wonderful hop-cherry-cinnamon aroma with a full hop mouthfeel and a bitter-dry finish. A very surprising ale and very enjoyable.

Bottle (7-4-7-3-15 = 3.6) – Very dark amber to brown body with a beige head and some laces; I dont know what happens to the Mikkeller beers when they are brewed in big quantities, but both character, balanced and clarity seems to fade away, quite a bit. This nose is pleasant and nice, but it doesnt really seem to have a mission (and if it actually has, it is the kind of mission that I aint really fond of), it has dried cocoa powder, oatmeal shine trough, dough of white bread with to much yeast, a bit of clay and soil and only very little pine and freshly cut grass; The body is soft and watery textured at the same time, it is a very, very little salty and a bit bitter, it has a little filling soft carbonation; It finishes medium long with a soft and watery texture at the same time as being bitter and dry, it has some aromas, but they are quite simple and unclear, is approaches you as a dry hopped mass, that is quite hard to take apart, with a little milk chocolate behind. Draught – (A month before the bottle rating) Super beautiful beer; Alright nose; Unbalanced body; Not to impressing finish. All in all a bit unbalanced.

Brown bottle, 66 cl, bottled on 01 08 2006, best before 01 08 2007, savoured on May 27 2007; eye: ruby-burgundy, clear, no effervescence, a thin beige head that eventually totally disappears, a bit of lacing; nose: roasted malt, vanilla, dark chocolate, hops, cocoa, a bit of smoke; mouth: in that order, a massive hit of roasted malt, chocolate milk, vanilla, hint of hops, finale in roasted malt with its acrid side, long bitterness then manifests itself that amplifies the roasted malt taste, medium body, a bit thin for me, a bit salty, dry, average bitterness, slightly oily texture, average carbonation, slightly astringent; overall: correct FRANÇAIS Bouteille brune, 66 cl, embouteillée le 01 08 2006, meilleure avant 01 08 2007, savourée le 27 mai 2007; œil : rubis-bourgogne, claire, pas d’effervescence, petite mousse beige qui éventuellement disparaît complètement, un peu de dentelle; nez : malt torréfié, vanille, chocolat noir, houblon, cacao, un peu de fumée; bouche : dans cet ordre, gros coup de malt torréfié, lait au chocolat, vanille, petite présence de houblon, finale en malt torréfié avec son côté acre, longue amertume qui amplifie la saveur du malt torréfié, corps moyen, un peu mince pour moi, un peu salé, sèche, amertume moyenne, texture légèrement huileuse, carbonatation moyenne, légère astringence; en résumé : correct
