| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 2/5 | 14/20 | Oct 3, 2008 smoky brown color, small aroma which is almost metallic. flavor is overhopped for the style, overwhelmingly bitter. some coffee, the aftertaste is not the taste of coffee....it is the aftertaste of coffee, like 2 hours after you drank some. why so many hops? doesnt seem to be necessary, and it irritates the smooth mouthfeel id like from a brown ale. too dry, too bitter, too thin. this is interesting, but its not a very good brown ale in my book. | 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Apr 24, 2008 Solid brown in color with a thick white head. Aromas of piney hops, light caramel and chocolate with some spice toward the back end. The palate is medium-bodied and tart with the bitter hops dominating the malt. A good beer but not my favorite Mikkeller. puggy211 (591), cordova, Tennessee, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Jan 13, 2009 Pours a clear deep dark brown with frothy off white head. The aroma is roasted malts mixed with brown sugar and mild caramel. It then moves more roasty and burnt as opposed to sweet. The taste is smooth and starts with roasted malts along with a mild malt astringency. It then becomes mildly sweet but with even more roasted malts than the early part of the taste. Into the finish I get more malt astringency that is just right for the style Jblauvs (589), Manchester, New Hampshire, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Aug 22, 2008 Dark Redish brown pour, offwhite dissipating head. Hoppy, Roasty aroma. Resinous hops overwhelm at the beginning, followed by some bitterness and malt backbone, some subtle coffee roast at the end sneaks up on you. A good offering from Mikkeller. bdigital (586), Ft Wayne, Indiana, USA
| 2.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 2/5 | 12/20 | May 26, 2008 Bottle: Courtesy of cmr1517...pours a translucent brown with no head. Aroma consists of nutty malt and coffee with some mild chocolate notes lingering. This is very disappointing in the body...very light and thin. The flavor pretty much follows the nose with the nutty malt base but it finishes on an awkward, dry hopped note. Not too impressed Slayer85 (584), Firenze, Italy
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Feb 1, 2008 Bottled. A clear brown beer with a big, creamy and persistent beige head. The aroma is quite intense and slightly roasted, with caramel and citric fruits notes from the hops. The flavour is the same roastiness of the aroma and notes of nuts, chocolate and caramel and then there are the citrusy hops. Soft mouthfeel, medium body at best, average/lively carbonation, quite long finish with medium bitterness and roastiness. It goes down extremely well, but this brewery has done better. jonno (584), Brisbane, Australia
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 13/20 | Oct 31, 2009 Poured a coffeeish dark brown. Nose is quite floral and sweet - like some type of candy. In the mouth was more sweetness with some good hops. Almost in IPA territory. Quite a good little beer but quite expensive for what it is. emerica56 (583), Bristol, Rhode Island, USA
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 5/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Oct 2, 2008 Pours a thick tan head with streaks along the sides of the glass. The color is a semi clear nut brown. The nose is of floral and citrus hops. The flavor is nice and robust with a ton of chocolate malt and hints of roasted coffee. But it is not too roasted, it is nice and balanced. It is hopped very well and the carbonation is perfect. Overall it is a great brown ale and nice and refreshing.
