Visuals: brilliant, red-brown color, thick foamy off-white, persistent head, impressive lace. 4 out of 5.
Taste: roasted, coffee, ginger, garlic, celery, intense hops, interesting, well crafted.10 out of 10.
Palate: mouthfeel is crisp, drying, texture is peppery, finish is long, bitter, and enjoyable. 5 out of 5.
Overall: Reminded me of a dark and delicious root beer. I’d have it again as a gift, but the price was very steep. Browns in general are not a favorite style for me. This one was very well done, as are all Mikkelleri. 18 out of 20. janir (215), Oulu, Finland

Beer is hazy deep yellowish reddish-brown. Some flowery hoppiness in armoa. Also roasted malts and chokolate. Flavors are roasted malts, chokolate, creamy coffee which emphasizes in the end. Nice bitter finish. Overall very balanced beer. Body is full and smooth, a bit sugary. A very enjoyable beer, one of the best! Bragesnak (2354), Aarhus, Denmark

| 4.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 5/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 18/20 | Mar 20, 2008 JB is marvelous (Billy Crystal). A cold pour serves up a coffee brown color and a tall lingering froth that reduces to a fluffy canopy and lace w/ sticky snail tracks on the sidewalls. The aroma, a nice balance of roasted coffee and citrus rind. Medium full nectar with superb carbonation. The texture is like soft high threadcount Egyption cotton. A big malty bacobone balanced by a strong citrus rind bittering component. Mildly roasted coffee bean, cocoa, citrus peel, and leather. The finish is bittered well leaving cocoa and asprin to linger. Overall: this is one of the best brown ales I’ve had. Excellent use of hops, solid chocolate malting, just marvelous. Highly recommended. GG (1674), NorCal, California, USA

If all brown ales were this intense they might actually be worth something to seek out!!! HUGE aroma of espresso, roasted malts and hops. Tastes were exploding with the rasins, coffee, hops and toasted bread. This is an incredible beer. I’m only sad to say that, like the others, I highly doubt this will see my neck ’o the woods anytime soon. Maria (6323), Thisted, Denmark
| 4.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 3/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 18/20 | Jan 1, 2007 Dark brown with a nice head. My nose is met by roasted malt, lots of it, chocolate, coffee and yeast. The flavour is wonderful and perhaps THE best Brown Ale I have tasted so far. It has lots and lots of roasted malt, notes of chocolate and coffee, and a lot of hops, that gives a very nice, spicy bitterness. It’s well balanced, naughty and flashy and deserves a high rating, even if you could say, that it is a bit untrue to the type... IPAaLLtHEwAY (137), La Crosse, Wisconsin, USA
| 4.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 5/5 | 17/20 | Aug 17, 2009 This beer rules! It’s a roasty, chocolaty brown ale with hints of coffee and licorice. Being a Mikkeller brew the malts are inevitably complimented by a great amount of hop bitterness, aroma and flavour PJClarke (710), London, Greater London, England

Surprsingly hoppy, though still very light on the nose. Light roasted malt notes also. In the mouth the hops are still apparent. VEry floral and tingly. Great deep, powdery chocolate and almost burnt topnotes. Very nice, deep & ashy roast. A really nice beer gives a great depth of flavour whilst remaining highly drinkable. Love it.
