Rich and creamy like a barista-made coffee with thick foam, just like the initial burst of aroma promised. Lots of that coffee and chocolate notes crossing over into hard burned malts that tingle your buds in concert with the high hop levels. Sits very pretty in the glass too with its strinkingly dense, dark brown hues. Foam goes yonder before long, leaving little lacing. One thing I like above all else is the fact that the Mikkeller guys brew beers of character and of incredible variety -- in this, almost no one can touch them on DK turf. MIkkeller is looking better all the time and I just wonder when we will see their wares at gourmet restaurant tables. When including the X brews, their portfolio should be whetting the appetite of sommeliers everywhere. brentfeesh (1039), Gadsden, Alabama, USA

Sweet malt aroma with a pepper hint and lots of roasted grain. Very enjoyable flavor. Very well balanced toasted grain with easy spicy hops. Probably the best brown ale I’ve ever had. Wow! Creamy semi-dry finish. Very nice. TheBeerOrg (1586), Kentucky, USA

| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Feb 17, 2008 500 ml bottle poured a lightly hazy reddish brown with a lasting tan head. Aromas of toasted malt, cocoa, citrus and pine. Palate was medium bodied and smooth with a dry finish. Flavors of toasted malt, pine, grapefruiut rind, light cocoa and light earthiness with a smooth lingering bitter finish. One of the beszt browns I’ve tasted! Too hoppy for most I’m sure but a true Hopheads delight. joss (3685), Garching b. München, Germany
