Sweet and deep strongly roasted malt profile in the nose with notes of chocolate, coffee, liquorice, nettles and a tinge of fruity hops in the back. Moderately sweet and roasty bitter flavour, medium bodied with a soft carbonation. Quite dry mouthfeel, robust roast-malty taste with notes of milky mocha, chocolate, liquorice and an aromatic presence of subtle fruity hops in the background; pretty dry and roasty bitter and hoppy finish. Very nice, makes me think of a slightly diluted Imp. Stout. 15.XI.09 Miguel (1181), Saint-Ours, Quebec, Canada

Draught at Ølfestival 2007. Redish brown amber colour with a good tan head. Usual surprising hoppy note to the nose with some nice alcoholic maltyness and German like cereal hints. Hops are there in the flavour too but not quite so upfront giving centre stage instead to some wonderful roasty coffee character and chewy rubber. Bitterness comes in like a punch at the finish. Awesome. Another cracker from Mikkeller. ryan (1781), Beltsville, Maryland, USA

The nose is sweet and hoppy with caramel, toffee, citrus and pine. The flavor is lightly sweet, moderately bitter with grapefruit, pine, toffee and light roast. Medium body is round with moderate carbonation. jrob21 (1278), Atlanta, Georgia, USA

Also leaves a decent lace on its way down the glass. Was a little taken a back by the hops at first but then I remembered it was a Mikkeller brew. Aroma is a little citrus hop and some roasted chocolate malt. Pretty unique and interesting combo. Chocolate flavors on the front palate and then the citrusy hop finish are pretty interesting and unconventional for a brown ale but work well here. after4ever (2828), Brier, Washington, USA

Dense, moussy, bubbly off-white head. Not much lace. Rich peppery toasted brown bread nose. Medium body with soft, tightly carbed attack. Rich molasses and sharp salty cat litter mid-palate. Long peppery finish. Awesome brown.
