Deep brown, pours a small tan head. Flavour is toasty malt, pleasant nuttiness, with some woody undertones. Medium bodied, very nicely balanced, lovely mouthfeel. | 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Oct 25, 2008 Deep brown in colour with a long lasting beige coloured head, good lacing. The aroma is malty, roasty, some chocolate, nuts, a bit dusty, lightly sweet. The flavour is of roasted malts, toasty, chocolate, some coffee, moderate sweetness. Lightly bitter mouthfeel, medium body, medium carbonation. Finishes long, some light bitterness but a bit more on the sweet side.
This was tasty for sure, very nice roast for a brown ale. This just goes to show that an everyday type of beer can have lots of flavour and be quite enjoyable.

Very malty and hoppy aroma with some caramel coming through in spots. Taste is hoppy and malty. More caramel, somewhat nutty (maybe chocolate covered peanuts?) and milky hazelnut coffee. Body is moderately carbonated and has a medium overall feel. This is completed with more nutty flavors, hops, chocolate, roasty malts and soft coffee. Nice brown! | 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Jun 10, 2007 A dark brown appearance with a roasted nut and chocolate aroma. The flavor consists of nutmeg, dark chocolate, and coffee. A dry slightly alcoholic finish. This seemed to walk the line between a brown and a porter. A nice one indeed. badgerben (3600), Blaine, Minnesota, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Feb 16, 2008 Dark brown color with a thin head. Dark chocolate aroma, plenty of nuttiness and English-earthy hops. Strong nut taste, predominantly walnut. Some chocolate and coffee. The hops are pretty strong for a Brown Ale and they seem to be floral/Noble hops. Quite a chalky feel. Good. BückDich (4847), McCall, Idaho, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 5/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Jul 27, 2008 Bottle: Pours a deep ebony mahogany color with a huge puffy tan head that stays put for a while, thick lacing and plenty of carbonation. The nose is roasty with a snap of hops, bitter chocolate and light roasted coffee. More sweet and aromatic than dark and menacing. Ample chocolate malts, minimal patents. The flavor is especially bitter but it balances up the roasty astringency and after the battle is over, you’re left with a light sweet coffee roast note on your palate that’s along. Simply to be enjoyed as is. The finish brings out more bitterness so you’re constantly wanting another drink to stay in the roasty purgatory in between bitterness. Refreshing and thought provoking. I like it, good name. thedm (3836), Fort Wayne, Indiana, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 5/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Jun 26, 2008 This bottled brew from Indianapolis, IN poured a large sized head of foamy long lasting brown colored finely sized bubbles that left behind a hazy brown colored typically carbonated body and a fair lacing. The aroma was of soft brown malt hop and caramel notes. The mouth feel was tingly and crisp from start to finish. The flavor was mildly vinous with brown malt and medium hop notes.
