The aroma is an interesting blend of yellow grapefruit and citrus zest, bitter nuts, caramelly malts, coffee, and bittersweet chocolate. Nice & crisp sharp flavors reflect the sensations from the nose. The citric and nut bitterness remains a strong constant throughout the drink. Interestingly, a touch of aniseed joins the fray near the finish. Not too shabby.

Dark, murky brown body. Chocolate, dark malts and bread can be found in the slightly roasty nose. Remarkably nice. The taste is again roasty, dark malts, caramel, some hop. Lovely... some breadiness and light aroma hop. Probably the best brown ale I’ve had. AmEricanbrew (1929), orange, California, USA
