Aroma is fairly hoppy with notes of chocolate, caramel and roast. Pretty big aroma and flavor. Clean, somewhat bitter mouthfeel. Big flavors, nice balance, not a lot of complexity. Enjoyable brown though. ekstedt (2446), Göteborg, Sweden
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 5/5 | 6/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Nov 8, 2007 Bottle (66 cl) from Ølbutikken, Copenhagen, Denmark. An American style brown ale with dominant piney hop aromas, and some roasted chocolate notes in the background. If I close my eyes I think I can sense some of those green pepper notes that abound in Beer Geek Breakfeast and Black Hole. Clear reddish brown with a large and long-lasting tan head, medium bodied with soft carbonation. Very bitter finish. Very nice but I would prefer the bitterness and hop aromas to be moderated a bit to give room for a more roasted malt profile. Glouglouburp (2865), Montreal, Quebec, Canada
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | May 23, 2007 Partly cloudy brown body with red highlights topped by a small beige ring of foam leaving very little lacings. Nose or earthy malts (very “brown” nose). Pleasant round body that rolls in the mouth. Lots of small bubbles. Taste is unfortunately rather simple, enjoyable but simple. Flavours of chestnuts and berries with lots of juicy woody hops. The woody hops are so present that it almost gives the beer a barrel-like flavour. Whether a Tarantino movie or a Mikkeller beer, Jackie brown is very good but I was expecting something more given the creator’s track record. Ughsmash (4058), Waukesha, Wisconsin, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Sep 16, 2007 Bottled on 8/1/06, thanks to sk8viking! Poured clear, deep burgundy with a tall creamy beige head with big bubbles on top. The aroma picked up heaps of semi-sweet chocolate and Cascade hoppage (pine and citrus) with sweet coffee right at the back. The flavor had coffee, chocolate and some darker fruity notes along with herbal hoppage.. left chocolate and coffee sweetness with higher pine and coffee bitterness. Medium-bodied and very well-balanced on the palate with higher bitterness. Very good stuff. JMFG (1514), Florida, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Apr 22, 2008 Bottle. Chestnut brown color with a thin persistent khaki head. Aroma is a mix of earthy hops and nuttiness, plus an odd talcum-like note. There’s a slight astringency to the hops and a tannic note to the malts that combine to give a taste that is oddly bitter and pleasant. The finish, however, leaves the malts behind and all you have is this astringency, and at times it borders on being unpleasant. A confusing brew. topherh (936), Kearney, Missouri, USA

| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | May 12, 2008 Bottle: Brown pour with an amber hue and a thick dense tan head. Fairly hoppy in the nose along with nutty caramel (but not sweet) Nice and inviting. Body is fluffy, but does have a sharp carbonation. Could use less carbonation. Pretty dry flavor. Dark nut hints, a bit ashy. There’s some American hop notes giving a very subtle fruity undertone. The finish is long and has lots of bitterness which is mildly ashy. A pretty solid Brown Ale.
