Deep mahogany pour, clear, smallish frothy beige head. Aroma - first impression, dry, nutty, dark chocolate, low-level dry resin hops - really good, made me look forward to the taste. And the taste - yummmmm - lush dry green resin hops, dry cocoa and nutshell malt, no alcohol presence - has a long, dry, bitter finish - lovely. Average body, astringent, long, long bitter nutshell linger. Bloody freakin’ marvelous! bager (2121), Copenhagen N, Denmark

Aroma and flavour of malts, herbs, coffe, bitter chocolate and hops. Has a kind of a oaty feel to it. Hope nobody will laugh - but - it reminds me a bit of a oatmeal stout. Very good though. The smell is absolutely awesome. Never have I been impressed with a brown ale until now. Find me a better brown than this. Colossal light brown crown with very good retention and lots of layered lacing fossilizing on my glass. Great aromas of ghaggghhhhhllll (yes, this is the sound I made upon first smelling it - it’s a good sound, I swear), very weak coffee blended with the dark citrus hops really make this beer exceptionable, dirty, dusty chocolate, almost has an american barley wine smell, fake blueberry, there is also something here that, if it had a hell of a lot more power would be pretty stinky - either way, it’s making my mouth water. Nice flavours of roasted malts, caramel, weak but bitter coffee, bakers chocolate, unsweetened grapefruit hops dominate the hop portion with slight apricot, weak spruce and a medicinal quality finishing off that feature. Some earthy nuances, more dark fruit when warmer. Finishes less than impressive - the bitterness almost nullifies the goodness. Medium to medium full bodied, Lengthy drying bitterness. Well, this sure started off well but it just cannot finish. Disappointing finish for sure. Still, This is really good and probably the best brown I’ve ever had. elektronikfagtekniker (892), kbh, Denmark

Opened the bottle to a funky nasty pungent vinous smell... poured and then settled my nose into the snifter to find a wonderful fresh hop aroma, followed by notes of coffee grounds, brown sugar and cinnamon/toffee apples. Great looking pour, deep ruby brown with a lovely creamy frothy grayish beige head. Leaves beautiful lacing on the glass. Sweet nutty fresh ground coffee flavors. Dry metallic tangy finish even with the lingering sweetness. Some citrus and a very present underlying hop bitterness. Watery, light but smooth carbonation, wish is had some more substance. This really would be sooo delectable if the body stood up to the delightful flavors. IPA like qualities emerge the more I drink: candy malt and fresh citrus hops. This beer has that quality that makes you feel warm and good inside... there should be a name for that.... * spector (906), Lancaster, Ohio, USA
