Beershine (1059), Miami Beach, Florida, USA May 12, 2008 Bottle, thanks mgumby. Plain brown color. Small tan head. Aroma of cola and hazel nuts. Extremely soft mouthfeel. Toasty, roasty, with bitter finish. Roasted nuts, toasted seed bread. Lingering hop finish. Wonderful take on the brown ale.
robforbes (626), Bremerton, Washington, USA Jul 18, 2008 pours brown with a large creamy tan head, excellent lacing.
smell of roasted nuts, malt, cocoa, some coffee, a bit of woodiness in the back.
taste is smooth and creamy, hops, roastiness, malt, bakers chocolate, a splash of espresso, some nuts, end is slightly sour and nicely bitter. Doggythedog (919), Split, Croatia Jul 17, 2008 RBESG grand tasting. hm... my notes got mixed. Beige medium-big head that went away slowly. Dark, murky brown body. Chocolate, dark malts and bread can be found in the slightly roasty nose. Remarkably nice. The taste is again roasty, dark malts, caramel, some hop. Lovely... some breadiness and light aroma hop. Probably the best brown ale I’ve had. sneagrams3 (1342), St. Louis, Missouri, USA Jul 15, 2008 Tasted 7/14/08. 22oz bomber. Hazy with a brown hue. Finger width of beige head. Noticeably hoppy nose. Piney and citrus with cocoa and dark chocolate. Touch of dark berries. On the fuller side of medium bodied with a lingering hop bitterness. Dark chocolate and acidic malts. This is bitter upon bitter. Mild carbonation, but the hops still leave a tingle on the tongue. Hits and rolls over the palate. Chocolate and coffee malts and a big hop presence. This is very nice. A big hoppy brown! lemasney (232), Trenton, New Jersey, USA Jul 11, 2008 RateBeer Rating, Style and Glass: 94, Brown Ale, Dimpled Mug

Visuals: brilliant, red-brown color, thick foamy off-white, persistent head, impressive lace. 4 out of 5.
Taste: roasted, coffee, ginger, garlic, celery, intense hops, interesting, well crafted.10 out of 10.
Palate: mouthfeel is crisp, drying, texture is peppery, finish is long, bitter, and enjoyable. 5 out of 5.
Overall: Reminded me of a dark and delicious root beer. I’d have it again as a gift, but the price was very steep. Browns in general are not a favorite style for me. This one was very well done, as are all Mikkelleri. 18 out of 20. Fin (2005), Merton, Oxfordshire, England Jul 7, 2008 Picked this bottle up from Uto Beer stall, Borough Market stall, Lahndan tahn, 21-06-08 consumed 04-07-08. Pours conker brown looking a little murky in the depths and with a light brown head. Burnt coffee, roasted malts and some soft brown sugar leap forth from the nose. The taste is fiercely bitter the burnt coffee that was present in the nose returns in the mouth along with some burnt cinder toffee and some further immensely roasted flavours its also hopadoodletastic, very, very nice.
